MassapequaSeventh Squad detectives reported the details of two arrests made on Oct. 27 for robbery. The two men arrested were Adam Farchione, 16, of North Massapequa, and Lawrence Mazzoli, 17, of Massapequa Park. According to the detective’s report, the two juvenile victims, ages 13 and 14, were walking on Beecham Place, Massapequa, when the two suspects and others who have not yet been arrested confronted them. The defendants produced what appeared to be a handgun and demanded money. The victims complied and no injuries were reported. The two suspects were arraigned on Oct. 28 in the First District Court, Hempstead.
SyossetThe Long Island Expressway was closed in the vicinity of a fatal car accident that occurred on Oct. 27 for a period of approximately three hours while an on-scene investigation was conducted. The decedent, whose name is being withheld pending notification of his next-of-kin, was erratically operating a 1998 Chevrolet pick-up truck eastbound on the Long Island Expressway when, witnesses reported, the vehicle crossed three lanes of traffic, sideswiping another vehicle, striking a guardrail and overturning. The victim, partially ejected, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Homicide Squad is investigating the accident.
ElmontFifth Squad detectives are investigating an attempted robbery that occurred on Oct. 27 in Elmont. The victim, 64, returned to her home on Peter St. and exited her vehicle when two unknown male subjects confronted her. One, armed with a handgun, began to force her toward the rear yard, striking her in the face with his hand and then, with the gun. The victim screamed, causing the subjects to flee on foot onto First St., southbound. The victim was transported to Mercy Medical Center for serious lacerations and contusions to the face. The first subject is described as a black male, in his late teens to early 20’s, six feet tall, medium build, possible Haitian or Jamaican accent, black clothing, doo-rag, and armed with possibly a silver revolver. The second subject is described as a black male, late teens to early 20’s, 5’7″ to 5’8″, tall, thin build, possible Haitian or Jamaican accent.

BaldwinOn Oct. 27, Terrance Atkinson, 25, of Roosevelt, was shot at the ‘Da Flava Bar’ located at 1299 Grand Ave., Baldwin. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment and his condition was serious at the time. He was pronounced dead at 5:35 a.m. on Oct. 27 at Nassau University Medical Center.
The investigation is ongoing and the police asks anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
Carle PlaceOn Oct. 27, an unknown male subject entered the Bank of America located at 251 Glen Cover Road and produced a demand noted to a teller. After obtaining an unknown amount of money, the subject fled on foot out the front door heading northbound on Glen Cove Road. No injuries were reported and no weapon was displayed. He is described as a white male, 5’7″, medium build, dark mustache and beard, and wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, blue baseball cap and glasses.

HempsteadThe Crimes Against Property Squad reported the details of two arrests for grand larceny on Oct. 26 in West Hempstead. The defendant, Joseph Smith, 23, while employed as a cashier for Home Depot in Hempstead, acted in concert with the second defendant, Anthony Meyers, 35, to falsify “returns for credit”. Detectives reported that Meyers, who owns his own construction/general contracting business, received full cash credit for partial returns he made to the store, causing an estimated loss of $35,000 to Home Depot. The defendants are each charged with grand larceny third degree, computer tampering second degree and falsifying business instruments first degree.
