“I’m bringin’ sexy back” is Justin Timberlake’s new motto. Following his genuine Justified album, Timberlake is a little bolder and not afraid to say what he wants from the ladies. These new love sounds, executively produced by Timberlake himself with the help of Herb Powers Jr. and Timbaland, reinvent him from his previous “nice boy” image found in songs like “Cry Me a River” and the boy band days meshed with the playful beats of “Senorita” and “Like I Love You”. This new album eliminates Justin’s sensitivity and replaces it with an all new and all around mischievous Justin that definitely leaves an impression. The album includes collaborations with T.I, Three Six Mafia and the Black Eyed Peas’ Will.i.am. By joining forces with other trend setting artists, despite the fact that fans were expecting to see some Neptunes’ melody from his previous album. The collaborations improve the song quality and make the songs more enjoyable. The songs are intertwined without pauses which make for a club mix tape to steadily continuous play. Despite the ongoing sounds, each track is unique. The first track on the album plays a sort of screwed and slow beat as an introduction to “Sexyback”- the album’s second track. The prelude sets the stage for the rest of the album, making it seem to be created in a red-light district. The introduction contradicts the rest of the album’s sexy and sophisticated vibe. The continuing beat could explain why the album seems to have an everlasting characteristic, one that disappoints Justin fans. But have no fear. If you already bought the album or plan to get it, you can look forward to the hit singles “Sexyback” and “My Love” which reassure fans of Justin’s ability to produce chart-topping hits. These two tracks are club bangers that are sure to get people jumping and in the party mood. Nevertheless, the album is not worth buying with two good songs out of twelve. Purchasing these two singles alone would be money much better spent.
