September was a great month for fashion lovers. One of television’s favorite female reality stars, Lauren Conrad, launched her own clothing line and well-known designer Vera Wang introduced her affordable line of casual, but still fashionable, clothing.
Conrad, also known as L.C. from MTV’s reality show “The Hills” has just fulfilled her childhood dream of becoming a fashion designer. Her line, simply titled “The Lauren Conrad Collection,” includes dresses, billowy tops, skirts, skinny jeans, handbags and clutches. Although very cute and girly, it reflects a laidback feel with flowing pieces and t-shirt dresses. This collection, which currently consists of only ten pieces, is sold exclusively online at ShopLaurenConrad.com.
Although Conrad is still in college and currently interning at Teen Vogue, she refuses to let her busy schedule hold her back. According to fashion blogs like FabSugar.com and BudgetFashionista.com, the success of the 10-piece collection could determine a 44-piece spring collection to be sold in retail stores. This would consist of everything from tank tops to white linen pants to floor length gown-dolled up with details like rosettes and bows.
“It’ll be anything I would wear because I wouldn’t put my name on anything I wouldn’t wear,” Conrad said during an interview with U.S. Weekly magazine.
The online collection has a $150 dress, but the 44-piece collection will feature a $350 tote bag.
Unlike Conrad’s collection, Wang, also known as bridal gown designer to the stars, has unveiled an inexpensive collection titled “Simply Vera.” The collection, which will be sold only at Kohl’s, is casual and created for the everyday woman.
The pieces will exhibit signature Vera Wang designs like tulle and ruffling. The line has a variety of options from leggings to metallic skirts and ruffle collared pea coats. The collection will also feature accessories and home furnishings.
Although they may be the most expensive items at Kohl’s, the prices are a bargain compared to her usual $5,000 dresses.
So for all you budget fashionistas make a stop at Kohl’s. Or if you’re willing to break the bank for a very cute $150 top, hit up L.C. online.
