At first glance, Adam Perrell seems like a pretty quiet guy who likes to keep to himself. But let me tell you, he has some stories!
Born in Arkansas and part of a military family, Adam and his family lived in Germany, England and France before settling down in Chugiak, Alaska. That’s right, Alaska! While he says he can’t go anywhere without someone calling out to him “Hey Alaska!”-Adam is definitely proud of his home state. He says one of the biggest differences between New York and Alaska is that back at home, he can see a mountain from wherever he is.
Adam says he is used to hiking and fishing whenever he feels like it. When asked the age-old question about the Alaskan Eskimos, he was quick to laugh and say that there aren’t any, but he did say, “Yes, we have igloos. Yes, I know how to make one. No, we don’t live in them. But we do have them in our backyards.”
So what is an Alaskan, hiking, fisherman doing all the way on Long Island? Adam is studying entrepreneurship at the University in hopes of teaching English abroad, namely Asia, to business-oriented students. In fact, Adam is currently learning Chinese as part of his 18 credit load. Adam is as motivated as they come and with that kind of determination, it’s undeniable he will get where he’s going.
