It is that time of year when it’s custom to honor the people that have given you everything. Yet, while this should be easy, it’s not. Most people never know what to get their parents for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, except for the same old boring gifts they got them the previous year.
Fortunately, Web sites are helping everyone out. Sites such as stuffjunction.com provide interesting gift ideas that are different than the average purse and tie.
Stuffjunction.com has a lot of crazy, fun gifts for moms and dads alike. One of the more practical gifts is the “Powermonkey.”
It’s a travel charger for cell phones, Ipods, cameras and PDA’s. It can provide power anywhere and is especially useful for when one leaves their cell phone charger at home.
“We have a lot of great father’s day gifts,” Roberta McBride from stuffjunction.com said. She mentioned the travel monkey, water powered clocks, the “ring thing” bottle opener, a fire-dragon and a floating water cooler.
By looking at the Web site, the “ring thing” bottle opener is immensely popular. “This stylish finger ring doubles as a handy bottle opener. Conquer your thirst and amuse your friends with a flick of the wrist,” stuffjunction.com says.
“The fire dragon is great for getting a fire started in a pit,” and elsewhere, McBride said. It’s a three-foot-long steel shaft that a person blows into from a comfortable distance away from the fire. It’s simple, safe and portable.
For Mother’s Day gifts, 1-800-FLOWERS is an easy and effective company to order from. They also have a Web site, 1-800-FLOWERS.com that shows customers everything they carry.
“We have arrangements specifically for Mother’s Day,” said Jeanette, a sales representative from 1-800-FLOWERS. “It’s the largest flower holiday we have.”
Besides the standard flowers, they also have gift baskets, stuffed animals, sweet treats, plants, wine baskets, etc.
“It’s pretty versatile,” Jeanette said. “We get stuff from lots of vendors.”
Gifts.com is a useful Web site for any holiday. But they have a whole section dedicated to gifts specifically for Mother’s Day, with categories such as “working mom” and “stylish mom.”
The Web site includes gifts as diverse as tote bags, spa packages, gardening accessories and jewelry. One of their “top picks” is their Gevalia Stir Mug, which stirs a person’s coffee with a push of a button.
If one doesn’t want to go online to find gifts, actual stores are always a good fallback.
Target usually sells flowers and has specials at the jewelry counters, a Target store operator said.
Department stores usually have specials in their beauty departments all year round, but especially for Mother’s day.
For instance, Macys.com has Mother’s Day fragrance sets by Givenchy, Donna Karen, Vera Wang and a variety of other popular brands.
While perfume and a buttoned shirt are easy and quick, one should try to be a little more creative this holiday season. It’s not as hard as it used to be, with the Internet providing a ton of ideas right beneath a person’s fingertips.
Moms and dads deserve something special and a little thought put in can go a long way and be greatly appreciated.
