-On March 19, a white male subject, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, medium build, wearing a tan zippered jacket and blue baseball cap, entered the North Fork Bank on Willis Avenue and presented a note demanding money from a teller. After obtaining an unknown amount of U.S. currency, the subject fled on foot out the front door.
Hempstead
-On March 14, Terrance Hyland, 23, of Kernachan Place, appearing at court on an unrelated charge, was remanded by presiding Judge Spergal to the Nassau County Correctional Facility where he became combative and in an attempt to flee custody and the courthouse, fought with several police and corrections officers, causing injury to some.
Hicksville
-On March 20, Jennifer Davis, 33, of Levittown was arrested for grand larceny and falsifying business records. Between December 2003 and February 2007, while employed as a bookkeeper/office manager for Trade Air Conditioning, Davis made unauthorized purchases in excess of $49,000 against a company credit card and forged company checks.
Lakeview
-On March 16, officers observed a gray 1998 Hyundai pass a stop sign at Langdon Blvd. and Pershing Blvd. and conducted a vehicle stop. The officer’s investigation revealed that the operator, Richard A. White, 43, had a suspended license. Officers also noticed the odor of a substance believed to be marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed a semi-automatic .380 Bernardelli handgun, 17 bags of a substance believed to be marijuana and two bags of a substance believed to be cocaine.
Lido Beach
-On March 18, at 11:25 a.m. a 911 call was received for a 2003 GMC found in the surf of the Atlantic Ocean. When police officers arrived, the vehicle was in about four feet of water with waves breaking over it’s top. The vehicle did not have any occupants. The owner was contacted and responded with her boyfriend, Gustavo Garcia, 37, who was the sole occupant of the car. Garcia claimed that the car became stuck in the sand and he exited and walked home.
New Cassel
-On March 15, electrician James Annitto, 42, of Oceanside, working at Audio Command Systems was electrocuted when an electric current arched from a circuit breaker box as he was hooking up equipment.
North Merrick
-On March 16, detectives reported a white male subject and black male subject, both approximately 6 feet tall, 190 pounds, armed with handguns, entered a residence on Cecily Drive and confronted a female victim, 72, downstairs doing laundry. The subjects escorted the victim upstairs where two male victims, ages 40 and 72, were watching television. The subjects ordered them to lie on the floor and then ransacked the bedrooms, stealing an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency and jewelry.
Plainview
-On March 14, defendants Steven Hernandez, 35, and Anthony Grimaldi, 34, were arrested for acting in concert to convince the victim, a seller/leaser of copy machines, that it could secure a large, Manhattan-based account with a buy out fee of over $90,000, freeing the prospective account from a prior lease agreement with Alpha Business Systems, and leaving the victim as its new source/supplier for copiers. After the victim provided the agreed upon funds, no buy out was procured; the defendants placed the money into a personal account, and withdrew tow checks for $45,000 each, at a loss to the victim.
Uniondale
-On March 19, Adam Chenard, 27, of Somerset, Mass., was arrested for allegedly using the personal identity information of the 22-year-old male victim, and acquaintance, to procure a student loan of over $22,000, with the victim listed as co-signer. The victim notified authorities after he discovered the fraudulent activity while checking his credit.
-On March 14, the victims/homeowners returned to their Harrison Street residence to observe defendants Dominick Hibbert, 16, and Christopher Lombardo, 16, exiting through the front door. Further investigation revealed the defendants were in possession of portable game systems, stolen from the victim’s home.
