East Garden City
-A 41-year-old victim, who is a student at Nassau Community College, reportedon March 7 exiting her vehicle in the parking lot of the college and confronting an unknown male subject who pulled her backward by her hair, punched her in the face and demanded her watch, rings and purse from which he removed cash. The subject then fled on foot. He is described as a black male, approximately 20 years old, 6 feet 1 inch tall, thin build, wearing a skull-cap and dark three-quarter length jacket with a dark fur-trimmed hood.
Freeport
-Freeport Police and Fire Department personnel responded to a non-suspicious electrical fire on March 7 at the home of Paul Myers, Jr., 23, and proceeded to extinguish the fire and transport the occupants of the home to Nassau University Medical Center. During the rescue, officers observed what appeared to be numerous counterfeit DVD’s and apparently related equipment. After an investigation, Myers was arrested for possession of approximately 1,000 counterfeit DVD’s.
Hicksville
-A homeowner on Gardner Avenue observed smoke coming through the main floor kitchen ceiling on March 6 and responded to the upstairs apartment and discovered heavy black smoke and extreme heat coming from the bedroom. The apartment tenants were not home. The homeowner, with the help of a friend, removed his wheelchair bound uncle out of the burning house.
Levittown
-A homeowner, while walking through her house, noticed that the outside front of the house was on fire on March 8. At that time, she evacuated with two other family members. The residence was fully engulfed and sustained extensive damage. Levittown Fire Department responded with 120 firefighters and 15 pieces of apparatus.
-Police reported on March 8 defendant Kareese Lindsay, 29, made multiple applications for credit cards via the Internet using different names and mismatched social security numbers and having the cards sent to a UPS mailbox. She then accrued debts against the fraudulent cards in excess of $50,000.
Plainview
-Michael Bonsera, 33, received numerous fuel deliveries on March 10 from Metro Fuel Oil to his places of business on Dupont Street, and issued numerous bad checks to pay for said fuel, causing the victim to suffer a loss of $142,000.Roosevelt
-An unoccupied home on Woods Avenue was under construction when it caught on fire on March 6. The home was fully engulfed with flames and required approximately seven fire departments with 20 pieces of equipment along with 100 personnel to extinguish the fire. The fire is deemed suspicious and is under investigation.
Valley Stream
-Carlos Santos, 19, of Elmont, was operating a 2001 Scion and traveling eastbound on Sydney Place on March 7, when he was reportedly attempting to catch up with a coworker who was operating another eastbound vehicle. Santos’ Scion fish-tailed/side-slipped on a portion of slippery, curved roadway, crossing the double-yellow line and colliding with a 2001 Sterling box truck causing extensive damage to both vehicles.
