We all have our down days – those days where we can’t find the strength to get up for class, let alone stay up during it. For those nights when your lack of sleep is keeping you from pulling that much needed all-nighter, Vroom Foods has come up with two great new products- Buzz Bite Chocolate energy chews and Foosh energy Mints. A single piece of either the chocolate or mint is equal to drinking a cup of coffee or anenergy drink.
“Food energy mints and Buzz Bite chocolate energy chews are by far the most caffeinated energy confections on the market,” said Sarah Person from Vroom foods. The chocolates and mints have 100 milligrams of caffeine. One must wonder, “Is there a positive side to all that caffeine?” And yes there is. Other than providing energy, caffeine increases the circulation in the body. Not only that, but it helps the body perform daily activities, increases alertness and can even reduce the risks of some diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.
According to Person, products with positive effects often have some negative ones as well. Caffeine can be addictive if taken too often, and some people can become dependant on it. Like a drug, people who become dependant on caffeine can have withdrawal symptoms if they try to stop.
This spring semester I have sworn off energy drinks. They did more harm to my body than actually help it. Instead the chocolate energy chews and energy mints for a couple of weeks to see how they compared to energy drinks. I soon found out there was a major difference. For one, the chocolates and mints worked almost instantly. I alternated between the chocolates and the mints every other day, and they both worked the same. I’d take a piece of chocolate or mint in the morning after breakfast or on my way to class. The energy it gave me was subtle. I didn’t feel tired in class or throughout the day for that matter. My body felt good and energized, as opposed to the energy drinks I used to guzzle, which made me feel shaky and anxious and then crash after a couple hours. Freshman Kristen Delldonna gave the chocolates and mints a try as well. She said after taking them she could feel an instant boost. Usually she would take naps during the day, and when she tried to take one the day she took the energy mint she couldn’t fall asleep. The chocolates and mints give you energy without all the shaking and anxious feelings energy drinks usually give you. Kristen was happy to try a product that pulled through with its promise. Juan Soto a sophomore said, “I felt fine after trying it, but excited also.” The one thing both Kristen and Juan commented on that was similar was the taste. They both agreed that the chocolate energy chews, although sweet at first, had a bitter aftertaste. The mints, on the other hand, were fine in their opinion. It was simply “minty,” as Kristen said. Although small in size, the chocolates and mints are packed with energy. They have 25 percent more energy than Red Bull does. They also have taurine, ginseng and five B-vitamins, as well, according to Person.
If you’re tired of feeling shaky after drinking energy drinks or burning your tongue while drinking coffee, try Buzz Bites chocolate energy chews or Foosh energy mints. Each pack, of either the chocolates or the mints, brings six individual pieces. You don’t need to worry about spilling anything or wasting a whole bunch of money; just pop one in your mouth and you’re good to go. What could be better? They work quickly, you save money, and time as well. They also have vitamins that are good for your body, but that doesn’t mean you should become dependant on them either. The next time you are in need of a boost, head to the bookstore and be energized quicker than it would take to finish a cup of coffee.
