Old Dominion (19-8, 15-1):Thanks to a 15-point effort by Sherida Triggs, the Lady Monarchs were able to defeat James Madison in a shocking fashion. Even better, that win puts the Lady Monarchs ahead in the conference standings. ODU will finish off their regular season on the road against Georgia State and UNC-Wilmington.
James Madison (24-4, 15-2):Recent losses to Delaware and Old Dominion have begun to take its toll on the Dukes. Not only did they lose the top spot in the CAA, they also lost their spot in the national rankings. A win against Towson could make up for that lost week and can give the Dukes high hopes coming into the conference tournament.
Delaware (24-4, 15-2):Along with defeating JMU, the Fightin Blue Hens soundly crushed lackluster Drexel with the help of Tyresa Smith’s 18-point performance. Delaware will round out their regular season against another conference bottom-feeder in Northeastern.
Hofstra (22-6, 12-5):Lizanne Murphy’s 21 points were more than enough to put a beat-down on Northeastern. Riding the coattails of a six-game winning streak, the Pride will look to go into the tournament with optimism should they get a win over UNC-Wilmington.
William & Mary (17-11, 9-8):The Tribe are coming off a busy week with victories over Georgia State and George Mason, with the latter being possible thanks to 26 points put up by Kyra Kaylor. Their season ends when VCU comes to town for a fight over the fifth seed in the tournament.
VCU (16-11, 9-8):Brittany Pinkney and her 21 points led the charge for the Lady Rams as they marched on through Georgia State at home. A road trip to William & Mary looms ahead as they bring their regular season to a close.
Towson (17-10, 8-9):The Tigers put a lengthy losing skid to rest with a close victory over UNC-Wilmington. Inconsistency has been a factor for their fall from grace after a speedy start in the season. A win would be nice, but it won’t be simple when they have to head into James Madison to face an angry band of Dukes still reeling over defeats from Delaware and ODU and losing their national ranking.
Georgia State (15-13, 7-10):Kelcey Roegiers-Jensen’s 27-point effort was not enough for the Lady Panthers in their defeat to VCU, thus adding to their recent woes. Like Towson, any chance of ending the season with a victory will be an arduous task as they go head-to-head with new conference leader Old Dominion.
UNC-Wilmington (7-20, 3-13):Losing to Drexel a few weeks ago really did have an effect on the Seahawks, who are on a seven-game losing slide which included another loss to Drexel. It probably won’t help their cause when their road trip consists to visiting a strong Hofstra squad and first-place Old Dominion.
Drexel (8-20, 3-14):It must feel good for the Lady Dragons to be out of the bottom of the CAA barrel. They once again handed UNC-Wilmington another humiliating loss and defeated Northeastern in a five-overtime epic, but it eventually took its toll on them as they were romped over by Delaware. Hopefully for the Lady Dragons, they can end the season on a high note should they get a win against last-place George Mason at home.
Northeastern (4-24, 3-14):Nothing has gone right for the Huskies, who have had recent losses to James Madison, Drexel in five overtime periods, and Hofstra. Trying to end the season on a high note won’t get any easier as Delaware comes to town.
George Mason (8-19, 2-15):The Patriots gained the ignoble honor of being the CAA’s newest bottom-feeder, thanks in part to a lopsided defeat to Old Dominion and a loss to William & Mary. To get out of this funk, they are looking forward to a road trip to Philadelphia against Drexel in hopes to close out the regular season with a victory.
