Virginia Commonwealth (21-5, 13-2): After starting off the conference season undefeated, VCU lost its second conference game in as many weeks, this week at the hands of Old Dominion. ODU dominated VCU’s high throttle offense, hold them to 33 percent from the field. The loss not only hurt in the standings, but also once again showed the Rams’ struggles with quality opponents.
Hofstra (19-7, 12-3): Hofstra kicked off the weak with a disappointing home loss to Drexel in overtime, 95-87, despite Loren Stokes scoring his 2,000th career point. However, the Pride managed to bounce back and get head coach Tom Pecora his 100th career win in a hard fought game against conference rival George Mason. Antoine Agudio scored a game high 23 points. Coach Pecora is the seventh coach in school history to reach this milestone.
Old Dominion (19-7, 12-3): The Monarchs continued there hot play with a second straight undefeated week. Brian Henderson was the only ODU player in double figures with 11 points, but the stingy Monarchs defense led them to a 68-55 win over Georgia State. ODU followed the win with an impressive win over conference leader VCU, catapulting Old Dominion into NCAA tournament talks. Arnaud Dahi had 19 points and seven rebounds leading the Monarchs to their seventh straight win.
Drexel(19-6, 11-4): The Dragons outscored Hofstra by 8 points in the overtime session snapping Hofstra’s 28-game home winning streak. Frank Elegar and Dominic Mejia combined for 51 points in the 95-87 win. Drexel continued their great play as four players scored in double figures allowing for an easy win over lowly Delaware, 77-62.
William & Mary (14-11, 7-8): The Tribe had a very good week moving into a 4 way tie for fifth place in the Conference. William and Mary shot 76.2 percent from the field in the second half as the beat James Madison 71-56. The Tribe then removed a monkey off their back as they finally beat UNC Wilmington 61-55. The win snapped a 12 game losing streak on the road against UNCW.
George Mason (13-12, 7-8): The Patriots fell below .500 in the conference with back to back losses. The Patriots were swept by VCU in a sloppy 63-49 loss. Next, after taking a 44-42 lead against Hofstra with 10:05 remaining, the Patriots managed just three field goals the rest of the game, falling 68-60.
Towson (13-13, 7-8): Gary Neal scored 37 points, breaking his own school record with eight 3-pointers, as Towson routed Georgia State 92-65. The victory guaranteed the Tigers winningest season since 1995.
Northeastern (9-17, 7-8): Northeastern followed their 3-game losing streak with back-to-back wins this week. Bennet Davis had his third double-double of the season scoring 23 points and grabbing 13 rebounds as the Huskies beat Towson ,65-55. The Huskies then out James Madison by 3 in a come from behind victory. Northeastern was trailing by 12 with 16:22 remaining but went on a 21-8 run, taking the lead for good.
Georgia State (8-17, 4-11): The Panthers took a step backwards this week dropping both of their contests. In the week’s first game, Georgia State played ODU close in the first half, but allowed an 18-3 run early in the second half and could not rebound. The Panthers had 16 turnovers in the 68-55 loss. The Panthers then followed the loss up with a 92-65 trouncing at the hands of Towson. Georgia State’s only bright spot was a 20-point performance from Lance Perique.
James Madison(7-18, 4-11): The Dukes two losses this week dropped them back into a tie with Georgia State. James Madison shot just 25 percent in the first half as they fell to William and Mary 71-56. In their second game of the week, James Madison squandered a 12 point second half lead, losing to Northeastern 67-64. UNC Wilmington (6-18, 3-12): UNC Wilimington continued their disappointing season with another loss, this time 61-55 to William & Mary. Montez Downey led the team in the defeat.
Delaware (5-21, 3-12): Delaware continued their dreadful season with another sub-par week. Delaware kept it close with NCAA Tournament hopeful Drexel, pulling with three points at one point in the second half, but still fell, 77-62.
