The Grammys, self proclaimed as “music’s biggest night”, went off without a hitch Sunday and is being hailed as one of the best in recent years.
The four hour-plus telecast featured an array of varied performances from Lionel Richie to Chris Brown and Christina Aguilera to Smokey Robinson among many others and fusing together old classics and brand new hits.
The night started off with it’s arguable highlight, a much publicized reunion performance from The Police, whom haven’t played together since Sting broke off from the group and started a successful solo career, rocking out on one of their staple hits “Roxanne”.
Another highlight of the telecast was the crowning the winner of the “My Grammy Moment” contest, an “American Idol” type mock-up where many vied for a chance to perform with Justin Timberlake.
The contestant pool narrowed down to just three and at around the 10:30 mark Carrie Underwood, an “American Idol” winner herself, announced that according to viewers votes through the internet and text messages, 19 year old Robyn Troup had won the coveted prize.
The “My Grammy Moment” contest was probably a plan to raise ratings after last years record low numbers against “Idol”, and it proved to work, with this years show the most watched in two years. Big winners include The Dixie Chicks, who one Record Of The Year, Album Of the Year and Song Of The Year. Other winners are as follows:

Best Group Pop Performance: “My Humps” Black Eyed Peas
Best Pop Vocal Album: Continum, John Mayer
Best Dance Recording: “Sexy Back” Justin Timberlake, Timbaland
Best Group Rock Performance: “Dani California” The Red Hot Chili Peppers
