The University’s Law School proudly announced an 87.6 percent success rate for first time students taking the New York Bar exam on Nov. 26. Of the 290 first-timers from the University, 254 passed. This percentage is an increase of 3.1 percent from last year’s pass rate and the New York exam’s overall pass rate was 74.7 percent, according to a University Relations press release.
The University was one of the impressive colleges in the percentage of all American Bar Association accredited New York schools, which claimed a 91 percent success rate, a figure increased by approximately 1 percent from last year.
The press release also said that Dean and Professor of Law Nora V. Demleitner offered her congratulations to those who passed and recognized that it was the appropriate reward of their tremendous efforts. “The high Bar pass rate reflects a student body and faculty dedicated to academic excellence. Hofstra Law graduates are not only intelligent and well-trained professionals, but their hard work and dedication allows them to make an impact in the legal profession and their communities.”
In the latest U.S. News and World Report ranking of graduate schools, the University placed in the Top 100 law schools across the country with a score of 39. The increasing positive attention toward the school is something the University and its students are proud of.
John Leschak, a second-year graduate student in the University’s Law school, was impressed with the increased success and expressed excitement in becoming a part of those positive statistics, “I’m proud that we’re increasing our Bar passage rate. We need to keep increasing it.” The news reinforced Leschak’s motivation and pride in the school. “I am going to keep working hard at my studies and hopefully my classmates will do the same and make the Bar passage rate go even higher.”
