After a big win against the College of William and Mary to end the season, the Hofstra Pride will have to face-off with them once more in the opening round of the CAA Tournament. Hofstra was coming off of 2 straight losses, one to University of Delaware and the other to Virginia Commonwealth. They had to come up big to regain some of the momentum they had earlier in the season after the streak of wins they put together at the start of November.
This brings us to the game itself. They know what’s on the line here: win and you go on to play Northeastern in the next round; lose and go home. It’s a big game, especially against a team that gave them a heck of a fight a few days earlier. In their finale against William and Mary, the Pride were led by Junior Harmonie Calinda who had 19 kills and 14 digs as well as led by Jennifer Engle who was able to get 14 kills and 12 digs. They led Hofstra to the 7th five set victory of the season for a Hofstra squad that was able to finish the season at 17-13 with a 9-5 CAA record and will have a chance to get a 2nd straight shot at a 19-8 William and Mary Squad who has a matching 9-5 CAA record.
The Pride seem as confident as they have all season and look to upset a team they know a lot about after there win just a week before their opening round showdown this Saturday. If they are able to pull out a win they will have to face-off with Northeastern in the semi’s.
