On Thursday, November 6 the Hofstra Field Hockey team traveled to Virginia Beach to take on William and Mary in the first round of the Colonial Athletic Association playoffs.
Off a penalty corner, William and Mary began the scoring with a goal by Wesley Drew from Katie Broaddus at fifteen minutes into play. Scoring off yet another penalty corner, Broaddus met the back of the cage with a pass from Mikala Savaides at just over nineteen minutes.
William and Mary’s Jenna Cinalli extended their lead to three at twenty-three minutes by tipping the ball in from a rocket at the top of the circle from Wesley.
Finally the Pride got into the game at twenty-nine minutes with a tip from Genna Kovar, assisted by Kristin Thompson. The last goal of the game came from Hofstra as Ashleigh Daniels tipped the ball on a penalty corner strike from Amy-Lee Levey.
Even though the Pride lost the match-up, they held an advantage in penalty corners with ten versus William and Mary’s four.
Likewise, Hofstra highly outshot their opponent with twenty-one shots to only nine.
