It has been a tough road for the lady pride but they have found ways to win especially in the last 5 or so games in which they have only lost one game. Being led by Ashley Legerretta and Lauren Engle who have gotten CAA Player of the week honors the last 2 weeks,
Legretta shared the honor but Engle was able to win it outright. Engle has been clutch especially in the last 3 weeks against Manhattan, James Madison and George Mason. She scored her sixth double-double of the season on Tuesday against the Manhattan Jaspers as she led the pride with 12 digs and a nice 13 kills. She followed up that performance with a brilliant 19-kill effort against The James Madison Dukes on Friday. Legerretta averaged a brilliant 4.75 kills per set against the JMU, while leading the pride in kills. She was able to finish the week with a nine-kill, nine-dig effort in the sweep of George Mason.
The Pride have 4 of their 5 wins straight wins on the home and now will play two straight games on the road going to Towson this Friday and then taking on University of Delaware on the road before coming back to Hofstra to finish off their regular season schedule against Virginia Commonwealth and William and Mary. CAA tourney will start November 21st making these last few games vital for the Lady Pride’s seed in the tourney.
