After an exciting week of soccer for the Pride clubs their brilliant freshman were honored. Freshman forward Brett Carrington was named Co-Rookie of the week for the men’s squad while freshman midfielder Courtney Breen received the same honor for the first time in her career for the woman’s team.
Carrington helped lead the Pride to a 1-0 win over Old Dominion and registered the only goal of the game on Saturday. In the Pride’s 2-2 tie with Drexel on Tuesday Carrington added an assist to his points total moving his marker to 14 (6 goals. 2 assists). These numbers are first on the team and second in the CAA. This is the second time Carrington has been honored by the CAA. After his two goals and one assist game against #13 Virginia Tech Carrington was named Co-Player of the week.
Breen has played in all 16 games for the Pride this season and has been a starter in 14 of the contests. She has scored twice on the year and has also added an assist. Breen’s second goal of the year was the game winner in the Pride’s 4-3 victory over Georgia State, but she has been more of an asset to the squad as a marker.
