To the Editor:
It is frustrating week after week to read few if any “letters to the editor” because of the lack of community input from the students and members of the Hofstra community. How can a College of 13,300 students, of which many are political science, communication, law, philosophy, governmental policy, and other majors not have a single opinion to write? Hofstra is a school that encourages communication. Both in the academic world and in real society. A perfect example was recently highlighted by the intense interest President Stuart Rabinowitz took in the protest from Students Against Injustice involving the current contract with Coca-Cola. In conclusion a letter to the editor is one of the most powerful communication tools any common individual has. It’s a voice that reaches over 13,000 students, faculty, leaders, and community members. It is the measuring stick by which the community judges other peoples beliefs and opinions. In conclusion, squandering this opportunity week after week will only lead to less change and numerous lost opportunities to make Hofstra a better community.
Sincerely,
