I write to wish congratulations to the editors, writers and photographers of The Chronicle. This past weekend, at the New York Press Association Spring Convention, The Chronicle staff won two awards in the 2007 Better College Newspaper Contest. The sports section placed third in the Best Sports Coverage category, and the judges raved about the sports editors’ headline writing. Great job Bob Bonett and Ed Morrone! Additionally, the judges called Chronicle reporter Brian Bohl’s columns “articulate” and “engaging,” granting him the third place award in column writing. Nice work Brian, and to the editorial editors, Emilia Benton and Kayla Walker. These awards do not just reflect on the sports and opinion sections, but on the paper as a whole. Everyone who works to make The Chronicle a great newspaper should be proud. You work harder than most people will ever know, and it’s nice to get some recognition every once in a while.
