Since returning from my spring break, I’ve been wondering: where is the Tropicana orange juice? I’ve seen a lot of changes in Lackmann’s products over three and a half years. I was here when we had the exclusive beverage contract with Coke, which was broken by student efforts to increase our options. And our options have increased; there is an abundant choice of liquids at our disposal, and some of them I can even afford. But Hofstra seems to have gotten rid of all the Tropicana orange juice, leaving us with more expensive juices, or the horrific Minute Maid concentrate version. Friends of mine have also observed this conspicuous loss from the shelves of Bits ‘n’ Bytes and the Student Center Café. (You also can’t save a few bucks by buying larger sizes of juice anymore; these refrigerators at Dutch Treats stand empty.) This is a classic example of Hofstra missing an opportunity to ask students about slight changes. Whether or not I can ever buy my favorite Antioxidant Advantage No Pulp Juice on this campus again, I’d like to say, hey Hofstra, ask us next time.
