Its already Week 4 and there has been mixed talk about the Giants. For the most part, fans deserve some credit for not being too short-sighted. They can look beyond their fantasy playbooks and recall that the Giants were a playoff team last year and picked up a ring two years ago. They also know it is early in the season.
This time factor has skeptics and believers constantly sounding their horns. While in some instances, (the Jets, for example), it makes sense not to get ahead of things. But for others, it is an opportunity to say “the Giants haven’t played any real teams yet.”
Tampa Bay was a walk through. The Lions could have put up a better fight, but I’m not here to bash Raheem Morris. Everyone knows that the Giants aren’t going to be really tested for another two weeks, when they face the Saints.
The thing that is most exciting about this season is how the Giants record will look, because unless Chris Snee gets caught in a Plaxico-esque scandal, it will be a solid record. The exciting thing lies in the receivers. This was the one thing going into season the Giants were slammed for. Amani had finally hung up his cleats, Burress is looking to trade in his blue for orange and were they really going to throw to Sinorice Moss?
Well, only in his third year in the league Steve Smith is emerging as the leader of the receiver pack and Mario Manningham is stepping up and doing Michigan a solid.
I fully acknowlege that five thrown touchdowns in three games is a little weak. For some that’s just a day at the office. But it also is just Week 4 and the team is young. The completion precentage, which is about 65 percent, could be a lot worse also.
The Giants will face tougher teams down road and the Giants will be just as tough. I mean last time I check the roster they have a solid that resembles their Super Bowl winning squad. Oh wait, it is. I’m not predicting the next 13 weeks, but I know for Giants fans, they’ll be sweet.
