I always look forward to discovering new styles and trends for the upcoming season. However, it’s sometimes difficult to wait an entire month for my issue of Nylon; fashion is ever-changing and I like to stay as up-to-date as possible! With the help of the fashion and beauty experts at WhoWhatWear.com, staying informed is simple with their daily emails. I’ve compiled a list of some of their helpful hints on how to look like you’re on the runway even if you’re just strutting to Dempster from Nassau/Suffolk.
Switch things up – substitute your boring tank or camisole for a dolman tank. Dolman is the term for shirts with wide armholes but tight wrist cuffs. A tank or muscle tee that is dolman-inspired will add an extra flavor to your outfit with puffy sleeves or ruffles. The tank will dress up your jeans and sandals for the day and add a special pizzazz to your eveningwear (they look great tucked into a high-waist skirt). Not to mention they’re incredibly comfy! (Pinkmascara.com, $63).
Make tying your shoes with the bunny trick cool again – update last season’s ankle boot with lace-up booties. Look for deep colors in suede with thin laces. (Topshop.com, $170).
Give your shoulders a break – consider a small cross-body bag in a metallic shade. You can have fun with these! Search for ones with unique quirks like Urban Outfitter’s Deena and Ozzy Door Knocker Purse. (Urban Outfitters, $42).
Look the part of a biker babe without all the bumps and bruises – leather jackets are essential this fall. You don’t have to stick with black, so experiment with different colors, collars, studs and lengths. Hint: Check out the juniors department for cheaper prices. (Stella Starr at Nordstrom, $58).
Bored of your plain-Jane flats collection? Don’t throw a hissy fit – refresh your look with a pair of colored snakeskin moccasins in taupe or red. Looking for a cheaper buy? Try a pair of ivory snake-like flats instead! (Rachel Roy at Macy’s, $89).
