Most students hope to study abroad or travel while they are still in school, but to have both an internship and study overseas is a dream come true. This summer, Jill Reinholt, a junior management and marketing major, did both.
Reinholt interned for a company called Artform International Limited in Paris for six weeks. She was responsible for researching the competition for L’Oreal and Rimmel London and to create the decorations for workshops that the company held. “Between interacting with the people and living there alone, it changed my perspective on everything,” said Reinholt.
After her internship, she took part in the University’s study abroad program, also in Paris. Reinholt said that the best part was “having the ability to learn about something and seeing it in its real context. I took so much more from the experience that way.” After the sum of nine weeks in Paris, Reinholt confessed that, “I’d live there in a second.”
Back at the University, Reinholt is still a very busy woman. She is a residential assistant for Liberty/Republic and works for Admissions as a student ambassador. She is in Honors College and is currently a member of HAMA, Hofstra’s American Marketing Association. She was also producer for the Vagina Monologues last year. She is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society and Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society. Her defining moments are “realizing how personal of an experience it is at Hofstra. The professors want to help you, they want us to succeed,” said Reinholt.
As for the future, Reinholt believes there are many opportunities out there that are still left to consider. “I don’t know what’s out there. I’ve always had an interest in business and when I graduate I believe I will have a job, I just don’t know what that will be. At this point I would like to work in New York. It has always been my dream to work in the city.”
When Reinholt has free time, she can be found at the beach, shopping or listening to music. Being from a small town, she likes to spend a lot of time with her family. During long vacations from school, she works as a manager and waitress at Lion’s Pride Family Restaurant in her hometown.
She lives by the motto of ‘live in the moment.’ “Everything will work itself out, you just have to enjoy what’s happening right now,” Reinholt said. She looks up to her mother, “she is a very strong leader in her career and I admire her leadership abilities,” she said.
These ideals are exactly what Reinholt strives to show in all of her endeavors. “I’m inspired by helping people.”
