Anthony Lucci knows what it is like to juggle school and extracurricular work. A sophomore, his illustrious portfolio leaves little time for the myriad of distractions hampering most students.
Lucci is the SGA club affairsman, an RA, an intern at the Center for Civic Engagement, on campus tutor for Political Science, Treasurer of the College Republicans and founder and President of Hofstra Students for McCain. If you’re still with me, Lucci is, in other words, a super student. He is majoring in Mathematical Economics and Political Science, with a minor in International Affairs.
In addition to managing these imposing responsibilities, Anthony maintains a stellar 3.84 GPA and won the New Student of the Year award last year. That award is handed out to the best new student, judged by academic success in conjunction with extracurricular involvement.
Incredibly, the amount of time he devotes for his duties totals about 30 hours a week, sometimes more. That doesn’t even take into account the work he puts in for school. Even so, he doesn’t feel encumbered by his responsibilities.
“[As club affairsman] I got to interact with 150 clubs over the course of a year. I had the ability to help as much as I was willing to…which was a lot!” said Lucci.
A tall, affable guy, it was easy to see why Lucci was so well connected and liked. He emanates an undeniable leader quality, even if he was talking about the perfunctory. Sitting there comfortably in a Knicks jersey, it was easy to forget that he was running off to another obligation immediately after-inextricably a part of his life.
Lucci’s term as the SGA club Affairsman is coming to an end tonight. Of course, there’s much more in store for this go-getter. He will soon become a justice on the SGA judicial panel, where he’ll “basically be right hand man to the chief justice, in finding cases and pursuing justice.”
