There’s a lot to be learned if you haven’t listened to “gore-core” hip hop yet, but just brace yourself for what’s about to come. Necro is one of the better known rappers of this “gore-core” genre, but his style of rapping is what other rappers would not dare dream of putting into their lyrics. Probably the most obscene lyrics you’ll ever hear from any rapper (yes, worse than Eminem), Necro pulls absolutely no punches away from his latest release Pre-Fix For Death.
You’d think with an all-star roster of members from Hatebreed, Obituary and Slipknot would be a very good reason to buy this album. Unfortunately, reality hits you as Pre-Fix For Death is a bland effort, which fails to capture the listener’s attention.
Necro’s lyrics remain as controversial as ever while dealing with gory deaths, sexual obscenities, and other items that will definitely tack on a “Parental Advisory” sticker on the album.
Unfortunately, Necro doesn’t really mix things up for Pre-Fix For Death as he has done in the past with his better known albums, Gory Days and Necro & Ill Bill. Don’t let the guest appearances by Jamey Jasta and Sean Martin of Hatebreed along with Sid (#0) of Slipknot fool you-all these guest performers doesn’t constitute an amazing album from Necro.
Don’t get the wrong idea; Necro can be quite a rapper, but Pre-Fix For Death is not a great album to get into if you’re beginning to know about this “devious” rapper. This album seriously does not do justice for Necro, but if you were to listen to his work prior to Pre-Fix To Death, then you might just get hooked on Necro’s music.
Overall, this is one sloppy album with no direction whatsoever. It is too bad really that Pre-Fix For Death is not one of Necro’s best, yet Necro is one heck of a rapper. Instead of the brutal and hardcore beats Necro is known to have, all you get in Pre-Fix For Death is some generic rapcore metal and no control over the music.
Maybe if Necro spent less time in finding all these musicians to be on his album and spent more time with the process of making the album, then Pre-Fix For Death would not be such a disappointment.
