It has been a less than impressive start for the Hofstra men’s and women’s tennis teams. After seven games, both teams are looking to redeem themselves over the next nine games of the schedule.
The men’s team is still waiting for their second win after six straight losses to Farleigh Dickinson University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Bryant University, Army, Saint Peter’s College and Drexel University. Head coach Amanda Foukas is in charge of a group of very inexperienced players.
The ladies are fairing a tad better this season. Starting 3-4 with convincing wins over Manhattan College, Bryant University and Saint Peter’s College, there is real promise for a successful season. The four losses were at the hands of FDU, University of Rhode Island, NJIT and Drexel University. The play of senior Zoe Taylor, who is coming off of an impressive 7-2 singles season last year, is vital to the Pride’s success for the rest of the season.
