Three unauthorized students were found living illegally in another student’s room in Vander Poel Residence Hall on March 10. When asked by Public Safety, the students said the fraternity told them that they were pledging that they all had to live together.
An anonymous complaint lead Public Safety to a room in Estabrook Hall on March 10, where they found non-student Donte Lewis illegally living in a room. The resident of the room was not present when Public Safety went to the room. Lewis was banned from campus and the resident of the room was given a summons.
A baseball shattered the rear window of an Audi that was parked in the Mack Sports Complex on March 11. Public Safety left a note on the car instructing the owner to contact Public Safety.
The fire alarm pull station on the sixth floor of Enterprise Hall was activated on March 12. Public Safety and the Uniondale Fire Department both conducted a search of the building and found that there was no reason for it to have been pulled.
A Resident Assistant reported that she smelled marijuana coming from a room in the Hague House. Public Safety responded and entered the room and found the resident of the room along with non-students, Devin Cooney and Brandon Davies, and a strong smell of marijuana. The resident of the room was given a summons and the non-students were banned from campus on March 12.
A vehicle was pulled over by Public Safety in parking field 7 on March 13 for recklessly driving in circles. Derek Ciliotta, Richard Decanio and Nicholas Morris, the occupants of the car, were taken to the Hofstra Information Center and banned from campus.
During the lacrosse game on March 13, a cameraman, James Ringden, harassed a visitor at the game, and was apprehended and taken to the Hofstra Information Center where he was then banned from campus.
Three vehicles were found crushed by a large tree in the Suffolk Hall parking lot on March 13. Public Safety left a note on the students’ cars to contact them, and the Plant Department removed the tree.
A Plant Department worker stated that someone was trying to steal a Hofstra University maintenance van parked behind Dempster Hall on March 17. The individual was trying to start the vehicle and the maintenance worker confronted the person. The individual then shoved the worker and fled on foot towards California Avenue. Public Safety was notified and they apprehended the male as he was attempting to cross Hempstead Turnpike. The individual was taken to the Hofstra Information Center and was identified as a student. He was issued a summons.
