OFFENSEAfter quarterback Bobby Seck’s exit, the offense labored. The offense averaged just 3.2 yards per play and was kept out of the end zone on three trips to the red zone. After David Darby’s interception set up first-and-goal from the eight yard-line, the offense got to the one and couldn’t get in. Coach Joe Gardi elected to not use Terry Crenshaw in short yardage, nor did he try a quarterback sneak due to Anton Clarkson’s hand injury. FINAL GRADE: F
DEFENSEAfter spending a season-low 33 minutes on the field, the unit played well enough to win. Delaware quarterback Sonny Riccio never looked comfortable and could not break any long runs. Delaware’s go-ahead score was helped by James Glee’s catch interference penalty. The defense, which broke on fourth-and-goal, stopped the Blue Hens on two fade routes on secnd and third downs.FINAL GRADE: B-
SPECIAL TEAMSJustyn Davis scored the Pride’s only touchdown after Delaware punter Mike Weber dropped a clean snap in the end zone. Chris Onorato, who earned both national and Atlantic 10 honors, made four field goals and continued to impress. But Glee’s penalty, combined with a 38-yard kick return average allowed, made this unit’s play sub par. FINAL GRADE: C+
COACHINGIf the past two seasons have proven anything, it’s that losing Seck make’s the coaches’ lives difficult. The game plan after his departure was very conservative, but Clarkson’s hand had much to do with the play calling. Coach Joe Gardi’s decision to kick the field goal in the second quarter – a no-brainer as he called it – from the one yard-line was also a bit reserved. The Pride had six penalties, with Glee’s being the costliest. FINAL GRADE: C-
