SPECIAL TO THE CHRONICLE
On Thursday, Sept. 18 the paintings of Kat Deiner were showcased in the FORM Gallery in Calkins Hall.
Her artwork was inspired by her time spent in Venice, giving her collection the name “Venetian Fragments.”
Deiner’s paintings captured multiple aspects of Venice from the beautiful stone buildings to the canals making their way through the city. The paintings gave a storybook feel as you looked at each individual piece.
The most interesting aspect of her artwork was how she highlighted certain parts of the Venetian waterways and buildings. Some of the paintings were up-close versions of their real-life counterparts. It looked as though she physically zoomed in on the parts she wished to paint; however, you always knew exactly what the larger picture would be.
Deiner’s artwork masterfully brought Venice to Calkins’ FORM Gallery.
