RAINED OUTThe Pride’s game against Sacred Heart Univeristy last Thursday at James M. Shuart Stadium was cancelled due to weather and field conditions. The steady rain made the artificial turf surface unplayable.
STRUGGLESThe Pride is just 5-for- 89 on penalty corners this season. In its four losses, the team is a woeful 0 for 25.
HOME SUCCESSComing into Sunday’s game, the Pride was 6-0 at home this year. Last year, the Pride was 9-3 when defending its home turf and has two home games remaining this season.
SHUART FOR RENTDue to renovations to Lawrence A. Wien Stadium at Baker field, the Columbia Lions are playing three of their home games at Shuart Stadium this year. The Lions also played in the Pride Invitational early in the season. Columbia assistant coach Wendy Brady Andreatta joined Columbia’s coaching staff in June after spending three years as an assistant coach for the Pride, so the Lions have some familiarity with the Pride’s strategies.
CAA PLAYThe Pride is 3-1 in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) thus far, but its three wins have come against teams that are a combined 1-13 in conference play. The Pride has a tough task this week as it welcomes William & Mary tomorrow at 7 p.m. and Old Dominion Sunday at 1 p.m. The Tribe beat the Pride, 5-1, in the regular season last year but got revenge in the CAA Tournament Semifinal, winning 1-0 in overtime. The Tribe is 3-1 in the CAA this year. Meanwhile, Old Dominion defeated the Pride, 6-3, in the regular season last year and is currently 5-0 in the conference.
