To the Editor:
Seniors, it might be hard to believe, but our time at Hofstra University is coming to a close. Although we may be graduating, our memories will live on with us forever.
This is the time to remember all the moments we shared with our friends at Hofstra, whether that be the excitement we all had when we saw the tulips on the first day of spring, or the struggles we experienced pulling all-nighters in Hammer Lab. No matter the experience, these memories were brought to us by the strong community that Hofstra cares so deeply about.
It is also time to reflect on and appreciate all of the help and support we’ve received along our journey. From professors that went above and beyond to inspire our passion for learning, to faculty and administration who were there to keep us on track every step of the way. With these individuals, we were able to become the most successful version of ourselves.
Hofstra University has given us the time of our lives by bringing together a group of amazing students and wonderful opportunities. No matter what student organization or club you were involved with, the skills and lessons you learned will last a lifetime. Although the time has come to enter the next chapter in our lives, Hofstra University will always play an important role in our future successes, so it is time to give back to this extraordinary institution.
As seniors, it is our responsibility to help support current and future Hofstra students, and encourage growth from the university. To help with these efforts, the Senior Class Challenge Committee is asking that every graduating senior donate $20.15, in honor of your graduating year, back to the university. This small gift will help benefit multiple scholarships, school resources, student clubs and organizations, and the overall life at Hofstra. As every other senior class, we are challenging ourselves to raise more money than the previous class, but we need your support!
Paying $20.15 is a small trade off when you consider the amount that Hofstra has provided to you, and the entire community within the past four years. However, if that is not incentive enough, if you give your gift of $20.15, you will receive a limited edition Class of 2015 T-shirt, an invitation to the annual Donor Appreciation Reception and recognition in the President’s annual report.
We hope you will kindly consider reaching into your pockets, or asking your parents to reach into theirs, to give back to a welcoming and passionate community that has given so much to you during the years.
On Wednesday, March 18, 2015 – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Graduation Fair in the Mack Student Center Atrium, representatives from the Alumni Office will be available to assist you in making your Senior Class Challenge gift. This is the perfect opportunity to make your senior class gift and receive your exclusive Class of 2015 T-shirt.
We thank you in advance, and hope you truly enjoy your last few months at this wonderful place we call home.
