MEN’S CROSS COUNTRYThe men’s cross country team followed up its Sept. 10 victory at the Wagner Invitational with a strong showing at the Delaware Invitational on Sept. 17. The Pride finished third out of eight teams behind the University of Delware and winner University of Pennsylvania. The Pride’s top individual finisher was freshman Mark Walters, who came in twenty-first overall and was followed closely by sophomore Rudy Martinez, who finished twenty-sixth. The Pride’s next meet will be on Sept. 24 at the Iona College Meet of Champions.
WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRYFor the women’s cross country team, freshman Mary Sullivan is off to a hot start. She led the team to victory at Wagner and a third-place finish at the Delaware Invitational, where she again finished first and also set a new course record with a time of 18:22.10. Sullivan was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference women’s cross country Athlete of the Week on Sept. 14. The women’s team will also take part in the Iona College meet on Sept. 24.
MEN’S TENNISThe men’s tennis team played its first tournament Sept. 16-18 in Providence, R.I. at the Northeast Intercollegiate Tournament. The team played well as sophomore Andy Cha and senior Nikola Djordjevic reached the singles semi-finals and seniors Matt Schor and Robert Sforzo reached the doubles finals in the tournament. The team’s next match will be on Oct. 7 at Stony Brook University.
WOMEN’S TENNISThe women’s tennis team has yet to play its first match, but it has already achieved a great deal. The team was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team, an honor bestowed upon just 83 programs across the nation. The team has a collective GPA of 3.62, with all eight team members having a GPA of at least 3.17. The team starts its season on Oct. 8 at Stony Brook.
