GOAL TALES
Senior goalie Becky Wachsberger picked up her first shutout in six games in Sunday’s victory over UNC-Wilmington. Until this season, Wachsberger has never gone more than three games without a shutout. Wachsberger also recorded 13 saves during regulation of the Pride’s against Virginia Commonwealth University last Friday. That tied her career-high for saves. Wachsberger previously made 13 saves in a scoreless tie with the University of Connecticut last season.
COMPARE AND CONTRAST
As of Friday’s game against VCU the Pride has surrendered nine goals this season. That equals the total number of goals conceded throughout the entire 2003 season, where the Pride tied the University of Utah for the fewest goals allowed in the country.
QUICK STARTS
The Pride continues to be solid defensively at the outset of games. The team not allowed a first half goal this season. The Pride closes games well. When leading in the final 30 minutes, the Pride is 66-0 over the last several seasons.
GOOD TIMING
Both of Marie Curtin’s goals this season have been game-winners. She scored the game-winner in the Pride’s Sept. 5 win over Providence College as well as the single goal scored in Monday’s win over UNC-Wilmington.
