Clothes Call: Finding Fashion Inspiration

Charlotte Seay Charlotte Andria Seay is no girly girl. The freshman business management major considers her style to be casual and edgy with a sprinkle of fun. She loves to try new things with layering and couldn’t imagine leaving the house without a pair of chic black boots. Seay expressed her frustration with the pressures that are put on women to dress a certain way, saying she’s more of a tomboy in her style choices. She loves to wear baggy clothes and cites fashion noisemakers like Solange Knowles and Rihanna as sources of strong female inspiration. Seay says, “I've learned to not care about what others think of me. I wear whatever I feel comfortable in.”
Joseph Kolb “I’d say my style is like … 1990s MTV cartoon character,” said Joseph Kolb, a junior film studies and English double major. Best described as grunge with a touch of whimsy, Kolb loves brands like Topman, but as a college student on a budget, finds some of his most unique pieces from Goodwill and random thrift shops. Not only does the Hofstra junior have style, he is also a fine artist and has found that the two interests often converge. “I feel like I'm being influenced by all different mediums constantly for everything,” Kolb said.
