Dear Editor,I have just read a story on Newsday.com regarding your University’s commencement speaker. The fact that he was roundly booed showed that the audience understood the difference between a commencement speech and liberal ranting. Unfortunately, it is apparent that many of the faculty did not. The story reports that “most of the faculty responded with a standing ovation” when Hofstra PresidentStuart Rabinowitz encouraged Doctorow to continue. The story ended with sociology professor Cynthia Bogard accusing the attending parents (presumed source of many of the boos) of being poor role models. In two short years, the oldest of my seven children will be applying for admission to college. Can you guess where he/they won’t be applying?
