Matt Anderson hails from the Keystone State of Pennsylvania. He is a seasoned leader with a proven tract record. As a U.S. soldier Matt not only worked as an Intelligence Analyst and Counter drug / terrorism specialist [working with the FBI, DEA, IRS, and the ATF], but he also received the prestigious US Army Commendation Medal for leadership and performance.
Matt’s record as a student leader is one that merits special consideration. During his course studies at CCAC (Community College of Allegheny County), Matt earned his Associates degree with high honors. As a student leader, he rose from the ranks of senator to SGA President within a year. Matt was instrumental in promoting reform throughout the SGA, which led to increased involvement and cemented the SGA as the primary voice of the students. For his hard work and dedication to the student body, Matt received the Student Participation Award.
Currently, Matt is a junior majoring in Secondary Education and History. Matt maintains a genuine interest and strong commitment towards the students and the Hofstra community. This is why he has chosen to run for SGA President and continues to use the slogan “Students First.”

Sharissa Khann is a junior majoring in History and Secondary Education. As a proven leader, she is an active member of MSA, SASA, SAI and LITHR to name a few. Sharissa is an avid proponent of student involvement in all aspects of University life. As an active member of various student organizations, Sharissa’s responsibilities range from Public Relations Officer for the Muslim Student Association, coordinator for the very successful Day of Dialogue (March 10, 2004), to fundraising over $1,000.00 for charity.
Sharissa also believes in promoting unity throughout the campus. She has assisted in the development and implementation of the first Interfaith Dinner at the University. The purpose of this dinner was to bridge the gap that exists between religious faiths.
In addition to her goals of strengthening the student body, Sharissa believes that the only way to address the student’s concerns is by talking with them. She is always available for comments and suggestions. You can reach her at [email protected].

Heather is a Connecticut native and has been proud to call the University her home for the last three years. She is working toward a dual major in biology and political science, hoping to work on pharmaceutical patents in the future. She has been an extremely devoted member of the Student Government Association (SGA) for the last two years. She was voted Senator of the Year by fellow senators for the 2002-2003 school year. Currently, Heather is the Chairwoman for the Student Government Rules Committee. Heather is also an active member of the Pre-law Society, Women’s Club Lacrosse team and a Resident Assistant in Alliance Hall. She is a member of the inaugural class of Honors College and is also involved in their SGA. Recently Heather represented the University at an International Leadership Conference in Prague. The goals of the conference were to increase communication among people of different backgrounds and cultures and to combat ignorance and prejudice worldwide. Heather brings these goals back to the University and hopes that in striving to achieve them on campus, she will be able to lead the student body into an era of increased involvement and productivity. Other international experience includes spending a summer in China, where Heather taught Chinese children to speak English. Heather is very excited to be running for president of SGA alongside her trusted and respected friend, Ahmed Mostafa. She feels that they could be a very effective team to lead SGA in furthering the actions of the senate in order to improve the University. Heather is a hard-working, open-minded and ethical person looking to help keep SGA headed in a positive direction.

Ahmed Mostafa I was born in Queens and raised a Long Island boy. I graduated with Honors in the top five percent from Kings Parks High School. Currently I’m a Junior at the University. I am attempting a dual major in Math and Accounting. I was admitted to Honors College the first year the college was created and have remained an active member in Honors College events, both academic and social. I am the current vice president of the Muslin Students Association (MSA) on campus. I’m proud to say it has done extremely well this year. I am a Resident Assistant on the third floor of Suffolk Hall, and I have found it to be a rewarding opportunity.
I’m into playing sports, mainly soccer and basketball, but I’m always open to any chance to play ball. I love gaming of all sorts. I am always excited to exchange thoughtful words with friends and strangers. I like to think of myself as a man of integrity. In fact, it is something I hold most highly; being myself and doing the right thing are things I pride myself on. I consider myself bright, but not gifted. I need to work just as hard as the next guy to do well in school. I would definitely consider myself religious while open minded and most reasonable. I know I have a sense of humor. I am real, in an intangible sort of way.
In short, I am a 20-year-old college student, who is actively looking to make a difference in the lives of my peers. I know it’s not easy to change the world and it’s a task bigger than life, but life’s all about the struggle. So vote me in and let’s do this.
