Need an easy recipe to satisfy your sweet tooth and share with your roommate? This recipe is for you! This baked brie tastes sweet and savory, and it is easy to make. Before COVID-19, I would always use this recipe to entertain my large family at parties. Of course, the recipe is still good even if you only share it with your roommate or those you are quarantining with.
Ingredients:
1 pack refrigerated puff pastry
1 8 ounce wheel of brie cheese
2-3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 large egg, beaten
1 package almonds (optional)
Instructions:
1. Heat the oven to 350 F.
2. Line baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray the foil with canola cooking spray. Take out the puff pastry from the fridge and place over baking sheet. Set aside.
3. Place the brie in the center of the puff pastry.
4. Add brown sugar on top of brie and incorporate as many almonds as you wish. Sometimes people use fruit as well as almonds. You can add more brown sugar if you want. I usually use 2-3 tablespoons. If you don’t have any brown sugar, regular sugar works as well. I know some people enjoy having this recipe with honey instead of sugar. Up to you!
5. Fold the puff pastry to cover the brie.
6. Brush the egg wash over the puff pastry. This will give the brie a golden color after it bakes. Sometimes people add sugar on top of the egg wash, but I prefer not to since it’ll make the brie too sweet.
7. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown. Make sure to check if the brie is gooey in the middle; that’s when it’s best to serve! I recommend having this recipe with slices of toasted French bread.
