Many University students looked for cheap deals for a spring break that will be fun and relaxing.
Cancun, South Beach, Nassau in the Bahamas, Florida and the Dominican Republic are the most popular places to go for Spring Break this year.
“Our deals are reasonable price similar to a student travel agency. With an all-inclusive package that includes alcohol and food and water sports, the Dominican Republic would be the cheapest place to go for Spring Break,” Tom O’Hara, a travel consultant at Liberty Travel, said. “The most expensive place would be any island that is offering a five or six star hotel.”
This year spring break is from Monday April 5 to Monday April 12. During this time classes are not in session.
“I’m going to South Beach with a bunch of my fraternity brothers of ZBT and a few girls in another sorority. I plan to hang out with my friends and go to the beach during the day and go out at night,” Peter Kaplan, a senior majoring in Psychology, said. “We decided to go there by word of mouth since some of my friends went there last year. My other friends are going to the Bahamas and Acapulco which are some of the most popular places this year.”
Although Cancun, Florida, Acapulco and the Bahamas are the most popular place to go for spring break, a couple of University students are not being so traditional.
“I’m going to Rhode Island for the weekend with my boyfriend and then I’m going home to New Hampshire. I decided to go to Rhode Island because it’s a short drive and my boyfriend won’t take a plane because of the Terror alerts,” Norri Gasser, a junior majoring in management said. “If I had the money and my boyfriend wasn’t afraid of flying, we would go to Hawaii [and we would be] sipping margaritas on the beach.”
Some students are waiting until summer to take their vacations. Denise Teixeira, a junior majoring in mass media studies, is taking her trip over Memorial Day, but she does have an ideal spring break in mind.
“I’m going to Las Vegas for Memoral Day. Last year I went to Acapulco with three of my sorority sisters of Phi Epsilon. This year several of my friends are going to California, Las Vegas and Acapulco,” Teixeira said. “I would say you would spend a lot of money in Las Vegas but the hotel price would be inexpensive. My ideal Spring Break vacation would be to go to a place where there are a lot of places to go out, it would have to be hot and there would be a beach.” spend the holiday with your family.”
When students decide to book a trip for Spring Break, they can either use the computer or go to a travel agency.
There are some benefits of going to a travel agency instead of using the computer. When students make arrangements through a Web site, they can not go back an alter their plans and the travel Web sites do not have specialist to explain any problem. When students go into a travel agency, they are able sit down with travel agent, who can offer solutions to potential problems, said O’Hara.
“I’ve went to travel agencies before but it hasn’t been very helpful. I find it easier to book a trip by yourself unless you want an all-inclusive package,” Teixeira said. “I usually find cheap deals using cheaptickets.com or travelocity.com.”
