Hofstra redshirt senior guard Tyler Thomas announced on his Instagram earlier today that he is declaring for the National Basketball Association (NBA) draft while maintaining college eligibility with Hofstra.
“Basketball has deeply influenced me, teaching me discipline, teamwork and resilience. With those lessons in mind, I’ve decided to take a step forward and enter my name into the 2023 NBA draft, while maintaining my college eligibility at Hofstra University,” Thomas said in the Instagram post.
In his first season at Hofstra, Thomas averaged 16.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists. Thomas spent the previous three seasons at Sacred Heart University. Maintaining his eligibility allows him to return to Hofstra if he withdraws from the draft before May 31. Thomas still has one year of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) eligibility remaining, and will return to Hofstra for his final season if he decides to withdraw.
