The Hofstra men’s basketball team will conclude their regular season schedule when they host Northeastern University on Saturday.
With a win, the Pride will lock up the first overall seed in the upcoming Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) tournament and its third regular season championship in the last five years. If Hofstra is to lose, they will need the College of Charleston to also lose in their game against Stony Brook University in order to still be the first seed.
Hofstra is in the midst of a ten-game winning streak dating back to mid-January which includes a victory over Northeastern in Boston on Feb. 8.
Tyler Thomas led the Pride with 18 points in the 72-53 thrashing of the Huskies, while Jaquan Carlos nearly posted a triple-double with 10 points, nine rebounds and nine assists.
Although, despite the diverse scoring output, Hofstra’s defense was the real star of the show, as Jahmyl Telfort was the only player for Northeastern to score double-digit points.
Telfort has led the Huskies all year in scoring, averaging 16.5 points per game. As a whole, Northeastern’s offense averages 65.5 points per game.
In their last game, the Huskies suffered a 75-48 loss on the road to Drexel University on Thursday. The Pride has had the last week off since defeating Stony Brook on Feb. 18.
Tip-off from the David S. Mack Sports & Exhibition Complex is scheduled for 2 PM. The game will be shown on MSG Network and streamed on FloSports, while WRHU carries an audio-only broadcast on the Hofstra Alternative Web Channel. Live stats can be found on GoHofstra.com.
