1. Arizona Cardinals (Previous Rank: 3)
6-0! The Cardinals remain the NFL’s only undefeated team after another dominant performance against the Cleveland Browns this past Sunday. Kyler Murray picked apart a pitiful Browns defense by throwing for 229 yards and four TDs. The Cardinals don’t look like they’re slowing down. So far no one has had an answer for the Cardinal’s offense. They’ll look to go 7-0 this week against a weak Houston Texans defense at home.
2. Buffalo Bills (Previous Rank: 1)
The Bills were half an inch away from securing a win and moving to 5-1. The defense was not as dominant as previous weeks, allowing RB Derrick Henry to run them into the ground. Josh Allen managed to keep his guys in the game all the way until the last play when he ended with 353 passing yards and three TDs as he continues to build that MVP campaign. The Bills win this game 95% of the time as they blew countless opportunities to put the game away. They have a bye this week and will use it to rest up and get healthy.
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Previous Rank: 2)
The Bucs left with a win on Thursday night, but weren’t themselves when they let the far less superior Eagles hang around with them. RB Leonard Fournette built off his performance last week by having what might be his best game as a Buc. He ended with 127 total yards and two TDs. The Bucs defense will look to improve next week as they take on the Chicago Bears at home.
4. Los Angeles Rams (Previous Rank: 4)
The Rams took care of business against the injury-riddled New York Giants. The defense was unstoppable, picking off QB Daniel Jones three times while causing him to fumble once as well. The Rams looked great on offense too. Cooper Kupp had himself yet another 100+ yard game. He ended up with 130 receiving yards and two TDs on nine catches. The Rams keep on rolling after that one mishap against Arizona and they should take care of the winless Detroit Lions with ease this Sunday.
5. Baltimore Ravens (Previous Rank: 7)
A lot of people predicted that the Los Angeles Chargers to win this game and the Ravens did not like that. They seemed to play with a chip on their shoulder in this one, where they demolished the Chargers in a 34-6 blowout win. QB Lamar Jackson was not his usual exciting self, but the Ravens defense picked him up big time by limiting the Chargers to a total of 26 rushing yards in the game. The defense will look to continue their utter dominance this week against their division rival: the Cincinnati Bengals.
6. Dallas Cowboys (Previous Rank: 6)
The Cowboys offense is amongst the best in the entire league. Whether it’s Dak Prescott and his immaculate WR core or Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard on the ground, no one has had an answer for them. They put up 35 this past Sunday on a Bill Belichick defense. Also, Trevon Diggs had another interception; the Defensive Player of the Year front runner now has seven in six games. The NFC East is the Cowboys to lose, as they go into their bye week.
7. Green Bay Packers (Previous Rank: 8)
Aaron Rodgers still owns Bears fans. The QB marched into Chicago and once again beat the Bears. He put up 214 total yards and three TDs. The Packers defense continues to look better and better holding QB Justin Fields and the Bears offense to only 14 points, while picking off the young QB as well. The Packers have really bounced back nicely after their week one disaster against the New Orleans Saints. They face the Washington Football Team this Sunday at home.
8. Tennessee Titans (Previous Rank: 11)
Derrick Henry asserted himself into the top of the MVP discussion as he ran through a top-ranked Bills defense. The king ended with 156 total yards and three TDs. The Titans looked complete on Monday night and they had every aspect going. Even though they weren’t able to stop phenom QB Josh Allen, they slowed him down enough to secure a win which was capped off by a 4th and inches stop. The Titans look to gain more ground in the AFC this week as they take on a weak Kansas City Chiefs defense.
9. Cincinnati Bengals (Previous Rank: 14)
The Bengals look better and better each week. Even though it was against a winless Lions team, Joe Burrow has this offense looking sharper each week. The QB ended with nearly 300 total yards and three TDs. The defense, which was a preseason concern, has also been playing really well. Many people still don’t see the Bengals as a real threat but keep an eye out for them to sneak their way into the postseason. They will look to do that this Sunday against the Ravens.
10. Kansas City Chiefs (Previous Rank: 10)
The Chiefs were able to get it done against Washington, but yet again another week where they did not look good at all. This game was close all the way up until the 4th quarter. QB Patrick Mahomes added another two interceptions and has a total of eight on the year; this is more than his previous two seasons and it’s only week seven. The Chiefs remain in the division race with a Chargers loss on Sunday, but must improve quickly on both sides of the ball if they want to make the postseason. They’ll have Derrick Henry and the Titans to worry about on Sunday afternoon.
11. Los Angeles Chargers (Previous Rank: 5)
The Chargers were humbled on Sunday. They were completely shut down by a Baltimore defense that was playing with a bit more aggression than usual. This was an off week as they could not get either the passing or rush games to work, which overall resulted in a defensive collapse. They will look to put this one past them as they roll into their bye week.
12. New Orleans Saints (Previous Rank: 12)
The Saints are looking to continue their push for the playoffs fresh off their bye week. The offense has looked promising so far while they do need to be more consistent on the defensive side. We will continue to see how Jameis Winston progresses in Sean Payton’s elusive offense. They will stroll into Seattle on Monday night to take on the Seahawks.
13. San Francisco 49ers (Previous Rank: 13)
The 49ers desperately needed this bye so that they can regroup after a non-ideal 2-3 start. They have not played bad so far this season but not as expected. The team is still trying to figure out its QB situation and it should be interesting to see how that progresses especially when Jimmy Garoppolo comes back from the injured list. The Indianapolis Colts will come into town Sunday night.
14. Cleveland Browns (Previous Rank: 9)
Things are getting worse and worse for the Browns, as they are the latest team hit with the injury bug. A few notable injuries are starting RBs Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, along with QB Baker Mayfield. To add injury to insult they got blown out by the Cardinals this past Sunday. The Browns are 3-3 right now and unless some guys step up and others start playing better, they could be in for a rude awakening. They have another tough matchup with the Broncos on Thursday, who don’t want to drop four in a row.
15. Minnesota Vikings (Previous Rank: 15)
The Vikings handed the Panthers their third straight loss on Sunday in an overtime thriller, which was led with fantastic performances by QB Kirk Cousins and RB Dalvin Cook. Cousins ended with 373 passing yards and three TDs, while Cook had 140 rushing yards and one TD. The Vikings have played great and have been in close games all season long. They look to rest up this week on their bye.
16. Pittsburgh Steelers (Previous Rank: 19)
TJ Watt showed us this past Sunday why he is one of the best at what he does. When the Steelers needed him most, he answered with a game winning strip sack on QB Geno Smith. The Steelers have looked much better all-around these last few games. Ben has not tried to do too much as the defense has stepped up in a huge way. They will try to sharpen up the offense a bit more this week on their bye.
17. Las Vegas Raiders (Previous Rank: 23)
The Raiders had a bounce back win Sunday after dropping two in a row. Derek Carr and the Raiders offense looked much better, dropping 34 points on a well-respected Broncos defense. Carr ended with 341 passing yards and two TDs. The Raiders are now 4-2 and still battling with the rest of the division for a playoff spot. They look to gain another victory Sunday at home against the Eagles.
18. Carolina Panthers (Previous Rank: 17)
The Panthers played well on Sunday, almost completing a comeback win vs the Vikings. Although Sam Darnold has still not looked great since their 3-0 start, as he was not even able to complete 50% of his passes. The defense also must play better if the Panthers want to be successful this season as they have allowed a combined 91 points in the last three games. On the bright side, RB Chubba Hubbard has filled in quite nicely for the injured McCaffery. The Panthers look to end their three-game skid with the Giants on Sunday.
19. Indianapolis Colts (Previous Rank: 24)
The Colts played a complete game on Sunday, beating the Houston Texans on both sides of the ball. RB Jonathan Taylor led the offense with 158 total yards and two TDs. This was all while the defense limited the Texans to a total of three points and picked off Texans QB Davis Mills twice. This was a much-needed win for the Colts as they keep their season alive and hope to build some momentum heading into their next matchup with the Niners this Sunday night.
20. New England Patriots (Previous Rank: 20)
The Patriots battled this week but the high-powered Cowboys offense was too big of a task as they gave up 35 on the defensive end. Mac Jones continues to impress; he ended with 229 passing yards and 2 TDs, while keeping the Patriots in the game. The Pats fall to 2-4 as they need to find a way to win these close ones before their season gets away from them. They should take care of business against the division rival New York Jets this Sunday afternoon.
21. Seattle Seahawks (Previous Rank: 18)
Things could turn ugly in Seattle quickly, as they await the return of star QB Russell Wilson. The Seahawks must find a way to pull at least a few wins until Russ returns, otherwise their season could be in jeopardy. Veteran QB Geno Smith by no means played bad, he actually played well enough to keep them in the game all the way up until the end. The Seahawks will look to gain their third win Monday against the Saints at home.
22. Denver Broncos (Previous Rank: 21)
The Broncos defense simply has to get better for them to have any shot at a postseason spot. They have been extremely underwhelming these last three games, all against solid teams. The Broncos must find a way to win against better teams, otherwise they will remain average. The offense on the other hand was not horrible other than the fact that QB Teddy Bridgewater turned over the ball three times via interception. They will look to stop the losing streak at three games this week against the Browns.
23. Philadelphia Eagles (Previous Rank: 22)
The Eagles played surprisingly well against the defending Super Bowl champs. QB Jalen Hurts had himself a three TD night while he did everything he could to keep his guys in the game. The Eagles defense was unsuccessful in stopping Tom Brady and his insane arsenal of weapons. The Eagles have played pretty good so far this season, especially with their very difficult schedule. They look to pick up their third win this season against the Raiders in Vegas.
24. Chicago Bears (Previous Rank: 16)
The Bears offense has been a problem for a long time; it has been the main reason why they can’t take that next step. Yes, rookie QB Justin Fields has promise, but unless he can make a huge leap very quickly, the Bears will still remain nothing more than average, which is exactly what they were this week against Green Bay. They will look to try and upset Tampa this week on the road.
25. Washington Football Team (Previous Rank: 25)
The Football Team kept it close with the Chiefs before their second half collapse where they gave up 21 unanswered points. QB Taylor Heinicke has not played badly for them at all, but he still is not the long-term solution at QB. Their defense continues to be widely below expectations and that causes them to struggle. They will try to end their losing streak at two this week against the Packers.
26. Atlanta Falcons (Previous Rank: 26)
The Falcons are fresh off their bye looking to improve on both sides of the ball. The offense has not been terrible so far as rookie phenom TE Kyle Pitts is starting to get more comfortable with the league. The defense remains a major concern as it ranks in the bottom half of the league. They will attempt to get back to 500 this week against a weak Miami team.
27. Ja
cksonville Jaguars (Previous Rank: 32)
The twenty-game losing streak Jaguars traveled to London and beat a Tua led Dolphins team. Things are looking slightly better in north Florida as first overall pick Trevor Lawrence got his first NFL win this past Sunday. He ended with a respectable 330 total yards and a TD. The Jags will look to regroup and get better during their bye week.
28. Miami Dolphins (Previous Rank: 28)
The Dolphins’ struggles continue as they lose to a winless Jags team that has lost twenty straight games, this time with their starting QB back. The defense continues to have its issues and the Dolphins are running their season into the ground. They just cannot seem to get it together this season, as you could say it relates to QB Tua Tagovailoa being hurt, but he also was not great before the injury. The Dolphins will look to be big buyers at the trade deadline to salvage their season. They will have Atlanta at home this week.
29. Detroit Lions (Previous Rank: 29)
This is the first week where Detroit never had a chance right from the start. They got blown out by the Bengals and still remain winless. There is still hope for Detroit’s future though because of the good culture new head coach Dan Campbell has instilled. They will continue to battle all the way up until week 18, but they have another difficult matchup this week in LA against the Rams.
30. New York Jets (Previous Rank 30)
Zach Wilson and the Jets needed this bye so he can improve on what he saw the first few weeks and make the necessary changes to start winning football games. He will look to limit his turnovers and start pushing the ball more down the field like he has done in the last couple weeks. The Jets will try and salvage a few wins while trying to develop their rookie QB. They take on New England in a division game Sunday.
31. New York Giants (Previous Rank: 31)
Things are getting ugly in New York as the Giants injury bug continues to hurt them. Not to mention, Daniel Jones had one of the worst games of his early career, throwing for three interceptions and not even 250 yards. The Giants looked bad with their starters healthy, now they look like a complete and utter disaster. They will try again this week when they face the Panthers.
32. Houston Texans (Previous Rank: 27)
Simply put, the Texans are not a good football team in any aspect of the game. I will also put money on them not winning a single game with Davis Mills at QB; the poor 3rd round rookie was thrown into the starting role with an offense that was ranked bottom five in the NFL. The only shot the Texans have at staying competitive is if they regain starting QB Tyrod Taylor back. They play the undefeated Cardinals this week.
