36 runners represented Hofstra men’s and women’s track on Saturday, March 30, in the Pride’s second meet of the season at Monmouth University’s Season Opener Invitational at Kessler Stadium. The 16 men and 20 women did not compete in any individual track or field events and instead focused solely on the 4×100 meter relay races.
The men’s C team, consisting of Ralph Licciardi, Mitchel Holson, Danny Pires and Sean Masterson led the way for the Hofstra men, placing 17th with a time of 48.34 seconds.
Andrew Giovinazzo, Ryan Connell, Konrad Rynkowski and Tyler McPartland followed with a time of 50.35 seconds, putting them in 18th place.
The Pride’s B squad of Marc Meltzer, Tosin Ibironke, Dante Perez and Steven Fiumefreddo – who all represented the Pride on the cross-country course last fall – finished in 19th place. The A squad of Paul Markovina, Alex Masai, Jorey Garcia and Luca Tausch trailed behind and did not place.
In the women’s race, Hofstra’s E team of Mia Thompson, Meredith Pfennig, Madison Georgiana and Haley Carter posted a time of 58.91 seconds and finished in 17th.
Finishing in 18th with a time of 1:00.31 were Madison Warfel, Rachel Seachrist, Djuna Slort and Antoinette Montes.
Kennedi Kutz, Cami Larsson, Dominique Luxardo and Frankie O’Brien followed behind in 19th crossing the line with a time of 1:02.34.
Ming Doherty, Colette Euksuzian, Mercy Jasterzenski and Alyssa Kohler finished next in 20th in 1:03.21 and the women’s A team rounded out the Pride and did not place.
Hofstra track will be back on Saturday, April 13, as the Pride head to the Rider Invitational in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.
