Old Dominion (5-1): The Monarchs have won three in a row and four of their last five. Of the wins, the most impressive one came against No. 8 Georgetown. The 75-62 win was Georgetown’s its first loss in McDonough Arena in 24 years. The Monarchs also rolled over Florida Atlantic and Richmond. Virginia Commonwealth (4-2): VCU has dropped two out of its last three, dropping heartbreakers to Toledo and Xavier. In their 74-51 victory over Hampton, the Rams forced 30 turnovers and held the Pirates to a 13-minute scoreless drought.
George Mason (3-2): George Mason suffered losses to two highly regarded mid major teams in Creighton and Wichita State while knocking off Hampton and Florida International (the Patriots’ first home victory).
Towson (3-3): Denard Abraham had 13 rebounds but his team came up two points short to Tennessee State, 49-47, on Saturday. Towson is next in action on Friday against Vermont.
Drexel (2-2): Drexel started off the week with an impressive 73-37 win over Division-II Florida Gulf Coast. In their next game the Dragons suffered an 89-81 heartbreaking loss at Rider. Drexel was outscored 14-6 in overtime.
Georgia State (2-3): Like Hofstra, Georgia State was unsuccessful when the Panthers played at UNC Charlotte on Saturday. Rashad Chase had a double-double scoring 13 points and pulling down 12 boards but the Panthers ultimately fell short, 72-63.
Hofstra (2-3): Hofstra traveled to Alaska for the Great Alaska shootout and won two out of three. In the opening round the Pride came up just a point short to Hawaii before playing its next game in the loser’s bracket, winning 73-70 against Marshall. The Pride gained their second consecutive victory over host Alaska- Anchorage.
James Madison (2-3): The Dukes were on a two-game winning streak until Eastern Kentucky toppled them 70-66 on Tuesday. Before that, JMU knocked off Wofford 78-74 in the first meeting ever between the two schools.
William & Mary (1-3): The Tribe is currently on a two-game losing slide, dropping consecutive road games at Holy Cross and Navy. Holy Cross pulled away for a tight 66-57 decision on Saturday, while the midshipmen dropped the Tribe 79-63 on Tuesday.
UNC-Wilmington (1-3): UNC-Wilmington got trounced by Charleston 91-70 and has now lost three in a row. The Seahawks losing streak consists of losses to Tennessee, Campbell as well as Charleston. UNC Wilmington will look to get back on track on Saturday at CAA rival Northeastern.
Northeastern (1-5): New Coach Bill Coen has suffered a very rocky start, as Northeastern’s only win cam against inner-city rival Boston University. Northeastern lost its most recent game at Rider, 70-69.
Delaware (0-4): Delaware is the only winless team remaining in the CAA, as the latest loss came at the hands of Cleveland State. Delaware had as much as a seven-point lead in the first half but could not hold the lead, falling 59-53.
