Lakeview-On Nov. 13, two unknown male subjects entered Woodfield Mini-Mart on Woodfield Road. One subject was armed with a large dark revolver handgun and struck the 40-year-old male victim in the head, while the second subject removed cash receipts from the register. After ordering the victim to open the safe, the first subject removed an undetermined amount of cash and then ordered the victim to the ground and struck him again. The two subjects fled the scene in a gold colored vehicle southbound on Woodfield Road. The first subject is described as a black male, in his early 20’s, 5 feet 10 inches tall and wearing a black hoodie, red t-shirt, a black bandanna over his face and gloves. The second subject is described as a black male, early 20’s, 5 feet 7 inches tall, wearing a black hoodie, gloves and a black bandanna over his face.
Lynbrook-On Nov. 6, a white male subject, approximately 25 years old, 5 feet 6 inches and 150 pounds, entered Tri Town Pharmacy on Sunrise Highway, produced a black handgun and demanded Oxycodon from the 62-year-old victim. The subject then removed several bottles of Oxycodon and Vicotin, and fled the scene in a maroon colored vehicle in an unknown direction.
New Cassel-On Sept. 4, Pastor Nixon was concerned when Evelyn Everette, 88, who lived alone in a private home on Urban Avenue did not show up for church services at the Holy Trinity Baptist Church in Westbury. Several church members went to her house with a key they kept at the church for her home in case of emergencies to unlock the front door. They entered and found her lying on her bed with a pillow over her face. They observed her pocketbook and wallet lying open on the floor. An investigation showed no forced entry into the home with all the windows and doors being secured. Frederick Jenkins, 49, was arrested on Nov. 6 and charged with murder.
Plainview-On Nov. 11, Adam Schwartz, 36, of Central Park Road, demanded money or jewelry from a female victim, 39, to not show inappropriate pictures, electronic mail or text messages of her to her husband. On Nov. 12, a meeting was arranged to exchange money for the photos at Dunkin Donuts where Schwartz was arrested.
Roosevelt-On Nov. 9, detectives executed a search warrant at an address on Bennett Avenue, a known drug location near Harry Daniels Elementary School. They arrested Jamel Fenner, 31, and Angela Carthage, 31, for the criminal possession of a controlled substance. Detectives confiscated a small amount of a substance believed to be crack/cocaine from Carthage and a small amount of a substance believed to be crack/cocaine, packaging material, a scale and a quantity of white pills from the residence. Two children, male, 9, and female, 11, were released to the custody of a family friend.
Uniondale-On Nov. 6, Sergio Fox, 17, of Pamlico Avenue, grabbed an 18-year-old victim around his neck from behind and stole two cell phones from him on Goodrich Street. The cell phones have not been recovered at this time.
Valley Stream-On Nov. 11, Luis A. Colon, 42, of Connacht Way, was stopped by Fifth Precinct police officers for operating his 1999 Mercury Mountaineer in an erratic manner northbound on Central Avenue. As officers approached the vehicle, they observed a stun gun in plain view in the center console. The defendant then advised officers that he had three other handguns in a bag in the vehicle. The handguns were found, as well as loaded magazine clips for the weapons. Officers also found a second bag, which contained a fourth handgun, a night stick, handcuffs, metal knuckles and more ammunition. One of the handguns had been stolen in Florida in 2002.
-On Nov. 8, a 25-year-old victim was making a delivery for Papa John’s Pizza to a residence on Roberta Street when he was confronted by two unknown male subjects who emerged from behind bushes in front of the vacant house. One of the subjects struck the victim in the face with a baseball bat and the other produced a knife. However, the victim yelled loudly and as a car approached from the south, the subjects fled on foot, without proceeds, westbound on Albemarle Avenue. The first subject is described as a black male, late teens, 5 feet 10 inches tall and wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and red bandanna over his face. The second subject is described as a black male, late teens and wearing a red bandanna over his face.
-On Nov. 8, Michael Oluwashola, 36, of Herzi Street, was arrested for using a stolen credit card to make a purchase at a Wal-Mart on Green Acres Road. He aroused the suspicion of store security when he attempted to make a second purchase a short time later. The credit card, as well as numerous other stolen cards, social security numbers, credit card convenience checks and personal information and fraudulently purchased merchandise were recovered from his vehicle.
Jericho/East Garden City/Westbury-On Nov. 10, at 10:20 p.m., Tameka Gray, 23, of Buffalo, N.Y., while at an area motel in Jericho, offered to perform a sexual act on an undercover detective for the agreed upon price of $100. Detectives arrested Gray, who subsequently resisted arrest. On the same date, at 10:40 p.m., Lizette Hernandez, 25, of Los Angeles, Calif., while at an area motel in East Garden City, offered to perform a sexual act on an undercover detective for the agreed upon price of $200 and was arrested. At 11:10 p.m., Jamela Carter, 26, of San Francisco, Calif., while at an area motel in Westbury, offered to perform a sexual act on an undercover detective for the agreed upon price of $200 and was arrested. All three arrests were solicited from the internet on “Craig’s List.”
