I would just like to take this opportunity to address the misrepresentation presented in the Vol.72 No.6 October 12, 2006 edition of the Hofstra Chronicle. The article “SGA president at risk of impeachment” unfairly and unfoundedly cast a negative light on the Napoli/Kopec campaign.
The intention of the Napoli/Kopec campaign was to win with integrity. Unfortunately, we lost with integrity. I am not bitter about this defeat, but I do wish to defend the honor of myself, my running mate, my campaign staff and supporters. Actions stated in the article were taken AFTER the approval of an Elections Commission Official.
A receipt of payment was also presented to the Elections Commission on election’s night which was created by the Office of Commuting Student Affairs (OCSA; misnamed in the article).
As for supporters of the Napoli/Kopec campaign wearing shirts, places that were prohibited from campaigning were strictly and warily avoided and if situations called for it, shirts were put inside out or covered up so as not to break any rules. In conclusion, the Napoli/Kopec campaign was not as villainous as stated.
Thank you for allowing me this peace of mind and let us all move on.
