The Hofstra University softball team closed out the 2026 season with a series sweep over Monmouth University, winning 10-2 in five innings on Senior Day. The Pride finished with a 21-3 record in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play, marking the fewest losses in a season since 2015.
With the win, the Pride clinched the No.1 seed in the CAA Championship and are the North Division champions.
Before first pitch, the program honored Lily Yepez, Alanna Morse, Emma Falen and Emma Brennan with a Senior Day ceremony.
Falen earned her 13th victory of the season for the Pride. She allowed five hits and two runs, striking out three across four innings. Jillian Locher came in for the fifth and recorded the first save of her collegiate career.
Monmouth’s Alissa Eimont started for the second time in the series. Through 2.2 innings pitched, she allowed nine hits and six runs, while striking out four hitters.
The Pride broke through in the first inning with three runs. Morse led off with a single on a 1-0 count. Dahlia Palacio placed runners in scoring position after an error from Bri Lawson. Gabby Sultan followed with a single to left field to load the bases. Chelsea Villar drove a ball to left center to clear the bases and give Hofstra a 3-0 lead.
In the second inning, the Pride added one run on two hits. After Morse lined out and Palacio flew out, Sultan singled for her second hit of the game and scored on a double from Villar.
Six hitters came up to the plate for Hofstra in the third inning, as they tacked on three more runs to extend their lead to seven. Gemma D’Orazio kicked off the inning with a walk and stole second for her ninth stolen base of the year. Yepez singled to place runners on the corners and followed with a stolen base of her own to put runners on second and third with no outs. Kimmya Sims picked up a two-RBI single on the first pitch she saw, driving a ball through the right side of the infield.
The Hawks responded with back-to-back solo home runs in the top of the fourth inning to trim the lead to five runs. Ella Stevinson homered to left field, and Mackenzie Bloss homered to left-center on the first pitch of the at-bat.
The Pride looked to seal the game in the bottom of the fifth inning as the Hawks faced a possible run-rule loss. Yepez kick-started the offense with a double to left field. Victoria Frobosilo entered the game as a pinch hitter for Nicole Cancel and placed runners on first and third after a single to center field. Sims reached base on a bunt toward the circle to score Yepez. Morse lifted a sacrifice fly to left field to score Frobosilo for the second run of the inning. Sims scored from second base on Sultan’s single to end the game.
Hofstra improved to 13-4 all-time against Monmouth, as they recorded five stolen bases for the first time since their March 31 game against Saint Peter’s University.Â
The Pride earned a first-round bye and will face the winner of No. 4 Stony Brook University and No. 5 College of Charleston on Thursday, May 7. First pitch from Hunt Softball Park is scheduled for noon.
