Baldwin
-Isaac Hightower, 37, entered the manager’s office of National Wholesale Liquidators on Sept. 14 and attempted to open the safe when a store employee approached him. Hightower fled the scene on foot with no proceeds and was later placed under arrest and found to be in possession of a glass pipe and marijuana.
Elmont
-Lorenzo Simmons, 16, and Richard Bembridge, 16, acting in consort with two juvenile males, confronted five male victims on Star Ave. on Sept. 15 displaying what appeared to be two handguns and demanding the victims give up their bicycles. The subjects became alarmed and fled when one of the victims saw a patrol car. The defendants were arrested and a replica Glock .9mm pellet gun was recovered.
-On Sept. 16 Burnice Miller III, 31, entered the 7-11 on Hempstead Turnpike grabbed the clerk from behind, put a knife to his throat and ordered him to open the cash drawer. A fifth precinct police officer, on routine patrol, observed the defendant walking from behind the counter and exit the store. A foot pursuit ensued and the subject was apprehended on Benson Ave.
Garden City
-Three male Hispanics, masked and one armed with a handgun approached a male victim outside his home on Sept. 14. The subjects forced the victim back inside the home, tied up a female occupant and stole and undetermined amount of U.S. currency. All three subjects fled the scene in a dark gray colored car northbound on Wickham Road.
Hempstead
-An unknown black male riding a bicycle and wearing a ski mask fired one round from a handgun at a male victim, 42, in front of 230 Franklin Street, striking the victim in the buttocks on Sept. 14. Hempstead police and a Nassau County ambulance responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital. The subject fled the scene prior to police arrival.
Hicksville
-An unknown male subject entered a Mobil on West Old Country Road and proceeded to pay for a candy bar on Sept. 16. When the clerk opened the register, the subject reached into it and grabbed an undetermined amount of cash. The victim then grabbed the subject’s arm and a struggle ensued, during which the subject struck the victim in the face. The subject then exited the location and was last seen fleeing eastbound on Duffy Ave. in a maroon 4-door mid-sized car. The subject is described as a white male, 35 to 45 years old, balding, wearing a hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses.
-David Isabell, 20, of Westbury, accompanied by two unidentified females on Sept. 15, approached a 28-year-old victim as he stood near the gas station located at 106 North Broadway and asked him if he had any crack. The victim replied he had none and began to walk away at which point the defendant grabbed him from behind, put him in a choke hold and punched and threw him to the ground, before going through the victim’s empty pockets and fleeing without proceeds.
Massapequa
-On Sept. 15 a subject entered the Red Wing Shoe Store on Sunrise Highway and handed a 19-year-old female sales clerk a noted demanding all the money. When the clerk opened the cash register and showed that there was no money, the subject left the store on foot and was last seen walking on Sunrise Highway toward East Chestnut Street. The subject was described as a black male, 6 feet tall, 250 pounds, with a goatee, wearing a baseball cap, tan hoodie and blue jeans.
Rockville Centre
– Two area residents who were walking past an office located at 23 South Village Ave. on Sept. 15 smelled smoke and called 911. The Rockville Centre Fire Department responded with 25 firefighters. Areas of smoldering papers were neutralized.
