Baldwin
-According to detectives, Kevin Hawthorne, 40, of Hempstead, acting in consort with another subject not yet arrested, entered the victim’s All Island Taxi cab on Main Street, Freeport on April 25 and forced the driver, at gunpoint, to drive to various locations in Freeport, Roosevelt and Brooklyn before they exited. The victim was directed at various locations to assist the subjects in loading merchandise into the cab.
-First precinct police officers responded to a car fire in a parking lot located on Merrick Road on April 27. The Baldwin Fire Department also responded with two trucks and extinguished the fire. The car was completely destroyed and the fire has been deemed suspicious.
Farmingdale
-According to detectives, two black males armed with handguns, one wearing a dark bandana and the other a dark hooded sweatshirt approached two females, 29 and 30, in the rear parking lot of 323 Main Street on April 27. One of the suspects punched the 30-yearold in the face before taking both victims purses. Both suspects fled on foot southbound through the parking lot.
Freeport
-Detectives report that a male subject stabbed a male victim, 20, in the chest with a knife, in front of a building on Main Street on April 28. The subject then fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.
Hempstead
-According to detectives, Shantay M. Galloway, 25, entered into and drove away a blue Ford delivery van that was parked on Linden Blvd. in Cambria Heights on April 29. The defendant operated the van into Nassau County eastbound on Hempstead Turnpike and parked it in the vicinity of Terrace Ave. A witness had the defendant under constant observation and notified the police.
Island Park
-A passerby observed Wayne Ekander, 52, descending the steps of Sacred Heart Church on April 26, carrying the church’s donation box over his shoulder, partially covered by a dungaree jacket. The witness exited his vehicle and detained Ekander until police officers arrived and found the defendant also in possession of two checks made payable to the church, reportedly stolen one month ago.
Massapequa
-Detectives report that Rudolph Adam, 24, along with a male subject, broke display cases at T World, Sunrise Mall, on April 27, and stole cellular phone headsets valued at $1,905. The subjects fled the scene in an unknown direction in a 1999 red Jeep.
Nassau County
-According to detectives, it is alleged that on five separate occasions, Gregory Harris, 22, engaged what he believed to be a 14-year-old male child in electronic computerized communication of an illegal sexual nature, culminating in an arranged meeting for the expressed purpose of engaging in sexual activity on April 26.
New Hyde Park
-Police officers were dispatched to a burglary-in-progress on April 25 at a home on Birch Lane, where they observed Jerry Johnson, 51, of Flushing, in the rear yard of the residence. After a short pursuit, officers apprehended Johnson, who was found to be in possession of jewelry stolen from the burglarized house.
Wantagh
-Following up on a complaint received from the Town of Hempstead, undercover officers conducted an investigation on April 24, at the Acupuncture/Acupressure Center on Merrick Road, and a second massage parlor on Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow, and were offered illegal massages and sexual favors from the defendants at both locations. Ling Lee, 35, of Elmhurst and Xin Wang, 51, of Flushing were arrested at the first location and Hong Deng, 40, and Shuxian Liu, 47, both of Flushing, were arrested at the second location.
Westbury
-According to detectives, Adrian Williams, 41, entered the Bank of America located on Post Ave., vaulted the teller station and removed $7,120 from the teller’s drawer. Williams then vaulted back over the counter with the proceeds and attempted to run out of the bank. A bank employee met him at the back door and a physical struggle ensued. In an attempt to break free, Williams repeatedly punched the employee causing minor injuries. With the assistance from bank customers and other employees, Williams was held until police officers arrived. The proceeds were recovered.
