Bellmore
Arismendy Rodriguez, 28, of Freeport was arrested on Feb. 6 and charged with breaking into a Nissan Murano to remove a Dell laptop computer around Army Place and Legion Street at 11:30 p.m.
On Feb. 7, Christopher Quinn, 26, was found leaning into a vehicle with a shattered window and taking out a black canvas bag by a parking enforcement aide at the Wantagh Railroad Station. Investigators found two other vehicles broken at the station, as well as two damaged vehicles in the Bellmore Train Station. Invesitigators found a GPS, Sirius Radio, and a Radar detector and other electronic devices in Quinn’s vehicle.
Carle Place
Two juveniles were arrested for arson on Feb. 7 at 4:20 p.m. Ignited trash cans were found near Party City, 290 Voice Road, which caused considerable damage to the store including merchandise, but there were no injuries. The store owner and employees extinguished the flame.
Freeport
Detectives are investigating a robbery at a check-cashing business on Feb. 7 at 85 West Merrick Road by a unknown male wearing dark clothing. The 41-year-old male owner was hit on the head with an unidentified object and lost consciousness when he was about to leave the location. He was awakened by a business acquaintance in the bathroom of the location, having found a deposit bag of an undisclosed amount of cash missing.
Hewlett
Deidre Aiken, 39, of Franklin Ave. was charged for identity theft on Feb. 8, when detectives found that she had stolen a credit card number from a male victim. She had made two purchases of $299 each from an Oceanside tanning salon, but made two unsuccessful attempts to charge it which led to her discovery and arrest.
Lawrence
Shaimoon Raj, 49 of 1011 Bay 30th St. stole 75 personal checks and forged the name of the 87-year-old man whom she was employed by as a home aide attendant. The victim lost over $20,000 to Raj over a course of three months to Raj. Raj was arrested in her home on Feb. 6 at 8:30 p.m.
Levittown
Police arrested a homeless man, Romaine E. Allen, 24, struggled but was arrested for the robbery of a Target store located on 3850 Hempstead Turnpike of about $460 of electronic merchandise. Allen was also arrested and charged for several robberies, stealing $1,000 worth of electronic merchandise from two Target stores, phones worth $850 from a Cingular Wireless store, merchandise of $385 from Cel Net Communications, as well as from a female woman, 54.
East Meadow
A 25-year-old woman was killed after a car accident on Feb. 6 when she was driving a 1997 Volvo on Merrick Ave. Her car was struck by a 1995 Jeep occupied Kwang Hee Kang, 42, his wife, Mi Hoa Kang and their son, Shin Kang, 15 were passengers in the accident and suffered from head and neck trauma. The vehicles were traveling with a green traffic light, according to witnesses. The woman in Volvo was pronounced dead at 9:25 p.m. at the Nassau University Medical Center.
Andrew Fowler, 19, of Wantagh was assailed for driving his 2005 Subaru at a high rate of speed and fleeing attempts by Highway Patrol Officer Garland Moore to pull him over. Fowler avoided signals to pull over and accelerated thus committing multiple driving violations, including speeding, passing through a red traffic light, and crossing double yellow lines. He hit a fixed sign and overturned, later returning to the scene of the accident and was arrested.
Nassau County
On Feb. 5, 11 search warrants were handed out to several jewelry stores for tax evasion in an undercover operation called “Gold Rush” in which detectives were investigating jewelry merchants who sold merchandise without charging NYS sales tax to customers if they paid with cash.
Roosevelt
Lucille Finley, 17, of Roosevelt, Ebony Colbert, 17 of West Hempstead and a 14-year-old female was arrested and charged with robbing jewelry off of a 17-year-old female victim as she was leaving a restaurant on Nassau Road. The victim received facial injury from repeated punches to the face and head by the three defendants.
Freddie Rosales, 32, was arrested for threatening and resisting arrest by two police officers who observed the defendant as acting suspiciously. When the officers approached Rosales, he threatened the officers with a 12-inch knife from his rear pocket but was disarmed at 9:35 p.m. on Feb. 7.
Uniondale
A shooting of a male victim, 22, on Feb. 5 at 2:55 p.m. in the basement of a Midland St. residence is being investigated. Detectives are looking for two male subjects who were described as black, having short hear and 21-22 years of age. The first subject is mentioned as 5’7,” with a thin build, and the second subject is 5’6.”
West Hempstead
Robert Welburn, 34, was arrested on Feb. 6 at 6:56 p.m. for driving with an 8-year-old daughter and her 5-year-old friend who were seat-belted together with one lap belt in the front seat. Welburn was unlicensed after receiving 14 suspensions and was also found with the possession of eight bags of crack/cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
