All eyes were on Britney Spears in the center of the ring, at her “Circus” tour, Wednesday, March 11, at Nassau Coliseum. Spears wowed audiences as she took the stage and Long Island by storm in her extravagant two-hour event. She performed in front of a sold-out crowd for her highly anticipated “Circus” tour. Spears flaunted her perfectly sculpted body in risqué outfits all night; she quickly changed ensembles between every song and kept audiences hooked for each skit. She danced the night away in shimmering sequins that could not be missed.
The stage was set up in three circular platforms into which she retreated back-and-forth, non-stop throughout the duration of the show, giving all attendees a chance to see her up close, even from the last row (which was packed to capacity). The noise level was through the roof, as expected; fans were exceedingly loud with excitement and it was refreshing and unifying for the audience to be singing the lyrics as loud, or even louder, than Spears herself. The only surprising aspect of the show is how she only sang three songs from her twelve-song “Circus” album.
Most of the songs were all smash-hit throwbacks, even performing “Baby, One More Time,” and “Boys.” Everyone who attended was able to enjoy the show because she sang all of her popular hits. Celeb blogger Perez Hilton, infamous for poking fun at celebrities, opened the show on a recording pretending to be a freak-like ringleader luring the audience in. Spears came down from the ceiling, singing “Circus,” driving fans wild. The Pussycat Dolls opened up for Spears and came out at exactly 7:30 p.m., performing 10 songs. It was noted that Madonna was in attendance Wednesday night, sitting in a box seat, outside the mayhem of the stands. It was quite the event and to nobody’s surprise, Spears had no lip-slips, falls or anything reminiscent of her 2007 VMA performance of “Gimme More,” which she did not sing at the concert.
Britney’s last show in Tampa, Fl., had a minor malfunction, when one of the stagehands didn’t turn her microphone off for a quick change. The entire audience heard her announce to the world that her modesty was being revealed (in more vulgar terms, of course.) But luckily there were no embarrassing mistakes at this show and everything went smoothly. Ticket prices for this concert ranged anywhere from $2,000 to $39.50 for the very last row, and the floor was all general admission.
Spears put on a great show and is coming back to New York on the March 23 for all those unlucky fans who didn’t get to attend this past concert.
One thing is for sure, Spears has made her comeback, with conservator dad, Jamie Spears still in tow. She had made her comeback a success and is back to the Britney Spears everyone knows and loves. The show was fun and lively and the crowd was on its feet for the entirety of the show. If you were there, you loved it, and if you weren’t, you missed out on the show of a lifetime.
