The Colts and Saints will square off tonight in the Super Bowl down in Miami, but let me save you some trouble so you can focus on the commercials.
The Colts will win and will win handily. The final score should be around 31-17.
While the Saints are the better story and maybe even a little more fun (who wouldn’t want a parade in New Orleans?) they are not the better team. The best teams feature the best players and Peyton Manning is the best player in the league and probably will be the greatest player ever, after getting his second ring tonight. Drew Brees is an excellent quarterback, but Manning is transcendent.
Neither the Colts defense or the Saints defense are good enough to make an impact in the game, but I do prefer the Colts ‘D’ as the lesser of two evils because of their excellent team speed. Losing Dwight Freeney may hurt, but Raheem Brock and Robert Mathis do not get nearly enough credit.
I think Manning will have a huge game. He carries this team and tonight should be no exception. I would not be surprised to see Manning toss the rock 40 times and end up with 350 yards and 3 touchdowns. The beneficiaries of this will of course be his receivers, Reggie Wayne, Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie. Let us not forget though, Dallas Clark. The Colts’ tight end may very well be the best in the game and will end up making a spectacular play at some point in tonight’s game.
I hope everyone enjoys the game and I can eat finger foods all night instead of having to eat my words.
